BT or Darryl said he'd be ready for training camp next year.

What are the chances he gets bought out from his current contract and re-signs to a more team friendly deal that better reflects his value as a role player? I don't know the exact rules behind this but it would be similar to the Michael Stone situation a few years back, no? Buy-out and re-sign a few months later?
Feel bad for the guy, he's been a great Flame and clearly his body has just let him down.

If he re-signs for $2.5 mln (a guess) it's not a lot of cap savings. Flames still on the hook for 2 mln+ on the buyout for 2 more years, plus the 2.5 he'd sign for makes him a 4.75-5 mln cap hit player through 2024, according to CapFriendly.

I was thinking more in the $1.2 mil range, but point taken. The team needs every bit of that $6.3 mil. It'll be expensive to have another team bite on the last year of that contract.
It's bothered me all year that the first "face of the franchise" after Jarome would probably not be with the team in the fall, now it sucks to realize that in all likelihood we've seen the last of him.

2 games, but still true. Though who knows how he’s looked at practice.

Yeah I don't think this will be a case of LTIR going into next season. Unfortunately though any chance of moving him in the offseason has likely been reduced to slim and none.

They could still move him, they'll just need to be prepared to pay to do it.
If the Flames want to keep the band together its pretty important to move all of that cap hit, not just buy him out. IMO

It's the same surgery as last year, just on the other hip. The recovery time should be the same, but he's getting the surgery about a month and a half earlier this year.

I only saw the replay but that looked real bad. I wonder if Kylington is actually day to day or if it is worse.

I didn't think Mangiapane's level of play is the problem. To me it looked more like a lack of chemistry with Toffoli, and being a little snake bitten. The whole team is playing a bit of a perimeter game right now. That said, Ritchie having twice as many goals as Mangiapane in the last month(since Mar 5th) doesn't look too good.

The fact that he's scored 30 goals with a rotating cast of middle 6 players is fairly impressive. He is streaky but he doesn't have the benefit of playing with a skilled center. It says a lot about Darryl Sutter's coaching that a team with Backlund as the 2nd line center is leading it's division late in the year.

Obviously there is still time, and the playoffs are a big factor but he wouldn't be getting a massive contract from me if his play doesn't improve big time.
Doesn't look like a guy that will score 30 again next season so if that's what he wants to be paid like I would be looking at other options.
that being said he could totally turn it around here.

Who would take him on at any cost until he proves himself healthy and productive?
Unless he is moves with a first round pick to some team who plans to buy him out. Which I guess is what you were alluding to.

IDK its not much of a risk for one year on a team with cap space
Youngish player who could be really be good if he is healthy...or LTIR guy which is apparently valuable this days. Flames don't have the wiggle room.

Teams looking to take on cap space.
And yeah being prepared to pay might be a 2nd or worse (in the Flames case).
