Just awful defensive coverage.
High danger chances were 20-8 for the Flames. Scoring chances were 34-25 for the Flames.

Markstrom has been the second best goalie on the ice lately and he is paid to be better than that.

St. Louis allowed Backlund and Gaudreau to both walk the puck right to the front of the net in the third. Husso made both saves so nobody is sitting her saying the Blues defensive coverage was terrible.

Markstrom needs a rest.

Yeah. With sloppy uninspired play. You can see how frustrated Sutter is with the team. This team still doesn’t know what it takes to win these tight games. This is reading like 2019 all over again.

I wanna be a fly on the wall in dressing room when that happens. Just imagine the paint peeling off the walls. Won't be nice.

People are reacting negatively to my comment because deep down they are worried too.

Nothing that can't change if the Flames erase their history and deal with the adversity.

They weren't the best team in the NHL after the ASB

Losing 3 close games shouldn't be a cause for major concern...these three games will have zero impact on the playoffs either way

Did people really think the Flames would just continue to roll into the playoffs?

This team was bound to hit a rut. All teams do.

Nope. People are reacting negatively to your post because they think it's ridiculous

If someone told me we’d be in this position at the start of the season I would have taken it in a heart beat. We’re In a small slump. We’re still playing well. We’ll get out of it.

Markstrom was not the problem tonight. Defensive coverage was sloppy and at times the forecheck was invisible as the Blues had lots of room to skate and move the puck. That is not a Sutter team.

You are a clown who only posts when the Flames lose or are losing...that is the problem people have with you.

Flames are leading the division by 3 points with 3 games in hand. Where did you have them finishing this season?

Weren’t close to being at the top of their game.

If you think they were, that’s fine.

Flames played well. Ran into a hot goaltender and St. Louis scored some good goals. That’s a good opponent.

Yes, they’ve lost 3 in a row but every team will do that. I’m not worried. They easily could have won all 3 of the games they lost.

Not worried at all.

They aren't even losing big like the other top teams that have slumped. .900 hockey isn't gonna continue for 3 months

I’m not worried because I think they are part of a huge group of good teams. Get to the playoffs and see what happens but there are no easy outs.
Do you think we are all expecting them to march to the cup?
We just choose not to wallow in negativity and enjoy the ride
Posters like you seem to think you serve some sort of voice of reason role that we need.
We don’t need it

You aren't wrong, but I'd argue those Backlund and Gaudreau chances driving from the outside are easier to stop for a goalie than a onetimer backdoor or a pass to a player all alone in the slot for the back-breaking goal.

Mangi fed Toffoli for an empty net onetimer that Toffoli missed, I don't recall others of a similar fashion that Husso had to make a miraculous save on. We didn't have the same types of high danger chances that we allowed all game IMO.

As long as they win the division, I don't care if the Flames finish with only 100 points.

Just get there as healthy as possible.

Well that's even better news since they dominated the game

Flames were the better team tonight. Deserved better.

Am quite concerned however about:
- PK
- ease with which other teams gain our zone
- defensive coverage

For sure. It’s good to have some perspective. I for one predicted that I would be looking at the top 10 players in the draft by now and figuring out who we should take.

We are leaps and bounds further ahead than 99% of people thought we’d be.

Let’s see how this group can handle some adversity. Covid aside, they really haven’t had many on-ice issues.
