Man, our PK has been atrocious lately. Guys just making dumb plays and not being able to clear the puck when they have the opportunity.

The PK has gone from a strength to a liability pretty quickly.

Yup, goal isn't directly his fault, but.. damn dude, get that puck out.

Definitely not all on him, but he did play that "small". Deep in his net. The missed clear is what did it though.
Flames are skating well though, looking good.

3rd and 4th lines are playing strong.

Blues have had four or five point blank chances despite only 6 shots

For the record, the first goal was a perfect deflection in the slot as well. 2nd goal he clearly never sees because of Gudbranson and the Blue in front. As mentioned, Razzy with the turnover and Mangi lost his man and was in fact covering nobody, allowing the pass into the slot.
I don't blame Markstrom on either goal, and I'm not sure he could have actually done anything different without cheating and leaving his correct positioning.

One of the things missing on the Flames for the last few years is outright Iginla-esque intensity - that outright refusal to lose a game. Gio was reasonably ferocious, but doesn't have game-changing skill like Jarome did.

with his assist Backlund has passed Hakan Loob and now sits all alone in 11th in (Calgary) Flames scoring

Really like the effort so far, especially the way they pushed back right away after the Blues got that early goal.
PK needs some serious work before the playoffs start. Those kinds of mental mistakes could potentially be our undoing if they don't get it figured out quick.

Flames dominating their likely first round opponent... nothing much to complain about, unlucky to be tied.

They lost 12 games in 2020 and 26 games last year, so assuming he would have played all of the lost games, he would have done it 38 games sooner -- which would have been early December.
He wouldn't have been able to pass Housley or Stevens, but it would have moved him up to third spot.

I get what you're saying but this team lost a lot of games with Iginla...more than this team

Flames were the way better team that period. Feels like a game where they are getting ready to put a bunch of pucks in the net. Hopefully the flood gates open this period.
