Maybe with two hips done, bionic Monahan can bounce back? Any medical professionals know if you can get the hip to return to close to 100%?

Seems to explain his season. Started off slow while getting his feet under him, then started to play better, followed by some poor play in the last 20 games. Certainly not great that we see these injuries every season from the player, but I feel for the guy. I can empathize with being silent about yet another injuries when you are already going through a rough season, and maybe already worried about people calling you injury prone and damaged goods.

They had to go the route of LTIR in order to bring up a defenceman to step in for the injured Kylington. Kylington isn't LTIR capable so let's just put Monahan on LTIR, everyone will believe that he is injured. Then we can cal up 3 or 4 players and not exceed the cap.

Probably won’t see Monahan play another game as a flame. Happy I was able to see his most likely last game, but sad that the Monahan era is likely over now.

I won’t condemn Mony for trying to get through this season in pain . Flames have an actually legit chance of winning the cup. Even in 4th line, you know he wants his chance to raise that cup. Not his job to think of cap space.

The 5th round pick for Carpenter seems like a good move in retrospect.

Hopefully Monahan gets better soon. At this point I don't really care about his level of play on the ice. I just hope that all those injuries will have as little effect as possible on his quality of life after hockey.

Have mixed feelings about Monahan’s career as a Flame (mainly due to management) but can not doubt that the guy tried his hardest, hustled, and did whatever the organization asked of him.

This raises a lot of questions about how the organization manages the health of its players. How did this go unnoticed? What happened with his last surgery? Has his condition deteriorated so much in the past few weeks that he couldn't have been placed on LTIR earlier?

Wow, poor guy can't catch a break. This will be what, 7th surgery in 5 years?

Cap space would have been nice at the deadline but hopefully they can use it for next season.

Goodluck to Monahan

True enough.

I guess its sink or swim time for Ryan Carpenter.

Bringing up Ruzicka might be appropriate now. Team seems to be struggling offensively a bit and he can help in that department.

He’s going to sink.

Lucic - Carpenter - Lewis has to be one of the worst lines in all of hockey.

Lucic - Ruzicka - Phillips should be the final state of things.

Monahans been stuck in quick sand since December.
Would've been nice if he came clean about his injury before the trade deadline.

If only this happened with any of his previous injuries. I'll 100% look at Monny not speaking up as an admirable thing but its clearly a bad idea. Keeping all these issues to himself year in and year out has basically ruined the back half of his career

Mony is one of those guys I’d keep cheering for even if he left the team. Good person, been a great player for the majority of his time here, never complained about any role he was asked to play. He’s the kind of guy I’d offer a job to once his playing career is done.

Wish him all the best but I think he’s played his last game as a Flame.

Sorry to hear that about Sean Monahan and hope all goes well for him and he can recover as well, hate to see his career end like this and hope he can be back playing again.

Very to hear the news about monahan. He's a good kid, injuries have really impacted his progression.

I do wonder if his season might have been different if they load manage him more te after coming back from the offseason surgeries.

Depending on how long the LTIR lasts for, could this free up $6M this summer to use towards re-signing the three that shall not be named? If so, would this mean Tre would have to get really, really crafty on the player movement when Monahan returns?

Is Kylington's injury related to his earlier fall?

You have to wonder if he was more forthcoming, maybe he would've had fewer and less severe injuries and maybe would be a more effective player
