Before Lindholm's penalty in OT I thought his stick was slashed out of his hands.

Not enough people are talking about how hard it is to play the Kings 1-3-1 system.

Gaudreau mentioned how frustrating it was tonight for the Flames.

1-3-1?

That's when you do the Flyers mock!

####in LA kept retreating in OT like cowards too. Hope we smash them next game.

From what I could tell, Lindy (who shoots right) only had his left hand on the stick, and his stick was swung outwards from his body (ie to his left). So he didn't have a decent grip on it when the Kings player hit it and so I guess the ref didn't see it as "slashed out of this hands".

Sloppy game for the Flames

Kings look like a well coached team.

Good they got a point. But will have to be sharper down the stretch.

It was lifted.

My google Sutteranslator shows "Johnny knows he cant turn that puck over. Horrible to do it twice. Lindholm and Tkachuk were even worse! They need to get back to a top line game, playing the right way for all 200 feet, quickly!"

Yeah, a stick lift is different than a slash. Responsibility is Lindholm's to have control of his stick there.

Plus, it was a stick lift, not a slash down. The refs usually don’t call those.

Believe the quote was actually "we" turned the puck over twice, not "he" to single out Johnny. He also didn't mention Backlund by name on the missed coverage on Arvidsson.

Well it’s not a penalty.

You're right, he did say "we". Who turned it over the first time? My point still stands. There is no way Sutter is very happy with Tkachuk's over-fancy stuff that has a low probability of success, unless its right in the blue paint. I think he's said before that Tkachuk has a gift in the crease.

I didn't like how Gaudreau curled the wrong way, cheating offensively, on the right wing wall earlier that shift, while the puck stayed in the zone. I remember it being the first half of that shift anyway.

Backlund was then good on the PK in OT.

Odd player to focus on IMO.

He was not fine on his first shift... yes he won the draw, when he finally skated it in, he did nothing with the puck like always and turns it over. Then goes off for the change, Lindholm came on and the puck was already going the either way. He didn't win the draws he needed to on the PK, and flames were basically hemmed in most of the 2 mins.

The Flames are teetering a bit lately. Not a good look when teams are stepping up.

Yep, I was mad at first, but on replay he lifted it and Lindholm wasn't holding it tight enough then got mad and grabbed his stick in retaliation. 100% right call there.

One minor nitpick that I have is Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Toffoli are all great scorers/playmakers but all seem to have a game here and there where they seem to just decide they'll take every low percentage, side of the net shot they can get their hands on.

It's so weird and frustrating when you can see one of them is on that train from puck drop.

Technically you could slash upwards and slash a stick out of a player’s hands.

I've seen it called, but it has to be an all out upward motion that smashes the stick out of the players hands. This wasn't that. Lindholm just wasn't holding on to it at all.

The way it’s playing out, perhaps Flames vs Oilers first round.
That would be a fun series.
Lots of penalties in the first round!
