Maybe he will want to stay here at he wins a cup and sees how well he has fit into the system and the praise he and Guds are getting from the fans and media.
With 3g 13a 16p, he could challenge his career best season of 7a 13a 20p in 2017-2018.
He had played for 3 other clubs and had 2 kids. Maybe also wants to settle down if he's found his role on the team?

I have been pretty impressed with his offensive instincts this year. He’s been good defensively & laying some absolute crushing hits but his offense has been a pleasant surprise. Would love him back if it was < $2,000,000.

I'd be surprised if Zadorov gets less than $5m AAV on the open market.

I wouldn't be surprised. The cap will be tight for years. Maybe he can get that on a 1 year deal but I would be surprised if he got that for multiple years.

I figure he gets around 4 million for around 5 years.

Well certainly not under $2milAAV like the poster above is hoping for. He'll be $4mil minimum on a 4+ year contract.

Out of all the things that came out of this team this year, I find myself looking forward the most to seeing Zad on the ice.
Maybe it's his size, how he always tucks his sleeves in so it looks like his jersey is way too small, and a lot of it is because of that super long Russian interview series on Youtube and the story here of how he gave a nod to the kid with the Ukraine colors on.
I will definitely not like this team as much without him on it.

Damned straight.
He's making $3.75M now and on pace for a career year.

I noticed Zadorov having a few gaffes since then, especially with McDavid walking around him but in addition to Tanev's injury that he played through this was just reported.
I think Zadorov isn't given the credit he deserves and of all the UFAs most likely to walk because we can't afford them, this one will sting the most (Johnny doesn't count because the Flames will put whatever $ is necessary on the table).
I'm still moved by his gesture toward the kid wearing the Ukrainian hat at the rink that was reported in this thread.

Zadorov earned his contract this season in my opinion. He will probably get a 3-5 year deal for around ~5 but unlikely from the Flames.

No one has cap space. People are over estimated the contracts for non-elite players.

Z had his struggles vs the Oilers, but most players did too. Overall as the season progressed he was much better than I ever could have hoped for. If the price is right I hope he stays. He brings such a needed element on the backend, seems like a great teammate and is on board with the #### Putin movement.
Would honestly rather keep Z than Gudbrannson if we have to pick. Gudbransson was good here, but has a history of sucking for long stretches with multiple teams. This year felt like his outlier, and probably all to do with Sutter. I can easily see him becoming a whipping boy at some point if/when his play falls off. I think Zadorov is the better player and more valuable to the team, but depends on his contract demands obviously.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by what he gave us. I didn't like how he didn't use his teammates and carried it into the zone himself. A lot.

Big fan of his, like how he plays and thought him and Gudbranson were solid all season. Hopefully they can get something done to keep him for a reasonable cost. I think it would be a mistake for the team to get smaller overall by losing guys like this.

I thought he played great for us all things considered. I do think he gets an Oleksiak-like deal, so I doubt Calgary offers him that.

I'd be shocked if he got $5M or more as an AAV.
But he'll get more than he's actually worth and Calgary can afford.

It was said that he would prefer a long term deal because he has bounced around quite a bit these past few years. He may leave money on the table to get term. Maybe a minimal raise? 4x4?

Can't do it with the contracts we need to sign. I think big Z did a decent job but with Mackey ready and the team needing to pinch every dollar he is too expensive to bring back.
