They were also without Landeskog and Mackinnon last night, which is a scary thought. All the more reason to finish as high as possible to avoid them for as long as possible.

Calgary put up 45 shots and held the Avs to nothing at even strength. I noticed the Flames weren't doing a great job of getting traffic to the front of the net and making life harder for Kuemper.

It's nothing to be concerned about. It happens from time to time. Their PK needs some fine tuning though. That's two straight games where they have allowed multiple goals.

I was at the game and saw the Avs all over the ice making quick reads to break up Flames' passing attempts in all 3 zones. Stepping in front players waiting to receive a pass that would have easily connected in the last game vs. Edmonton. I think it's a big adjustment from Oilers to Avs when trying to move the puck. In a series, the Flames would have time to adjust.

It was hard for the crowd to get going because there wasn't much room on the ice and no real momentum. Just hoping to see a lucky 3rd period goal to win or tie the game.

I thought the game was tough to watch and boring. Just the way I looked at it. Seemed like Calgary didn’t want to get their hands dirty in front of the net on both the power play and penalty kill. Meh…. Next.

Really boring game. Flames had shots but didn’t feel like they had a lot of chances. They carried the play through the first 2 periods and the Avs poured it on in the third.

Really not a fan of Adrian Dater who seems personally offended if anyone says the Flames are at the same level as Colorado.

They won't play until round three if at all...there is no realistic scenario where they meet before that.

Hopefully that bodes well for Monahan. Sutter likes to play possession hockey and the first point of possession is winning your faceoff.

I agree with another poster that we need someone at the side of the net, someone like Timmy Hunter. Lucic might be that man, but I don't particularly like him on the power play. He has struggled with passing and puck possession lately.

I kinda felt bad for Monny in the sense that he'd win draw after draw after draw and yet we wound up doing sweet f-all with that won draw...

Didn't read the whole thread, but pretty tight game all things considered. There was one specific play that annoyed me a little off of a clean face-off win in the O-zone where Hanifin got the puck at the point and Dube was wide open with no coverage on the left wing. A pass there would have created a really good open opportunity but Hanifin just threw a weak shot on Kuemper with zero screen.

Pretty surprised to come in here and see the doom and gloom about a possible playoff matchup vs Colorado at this point. Flames looked disjointed all night offensively and still managed 45 shots. Not only that, they did absolutely whatever they wanted physically and took liberties with Kuemper throughout. I come away from that game feeling great about our chances to beat them in a 7 game series, that is a style that the Av's have wilted against in the playoffs multiple times in recent years.

I like Jarnkrok the player but don't love his fit so far. Hopefully he can find his way down the stretch and get comfortable cause it's obvious that he can be a heck of an addition if he starts clicking.

Yeah but you can’t allow that mindset to enter the locker room at all. I love how Sutter (and the players) are so focused this year. Zero room is being allowed to get “comfortable”.

Agree with Top5.

I am not going to think about COL unless and until the time comes that we have to actually be thinking about COL.

Plenty of things to be focused on and achieved before COL even becomes an issue.

sure but as a fan its not gonna happen...I honestly don't even care if one of those teams passes the Flames, they would just get an easier first round.

St. Louis, Nashville, or Minny will be the prize for winning the division, almost seems unfair after such a great season.

Meanwhile the Oilers will likely get rewarded with injured LA for their crap season

I'll bet injured L.A. still wins that series (vs Edmonton).

The oilers couldn't even beat the Blackhawks a few years back when they were just as heavy a favorite.

Man, 2\3 in the pacific is shaping up to be one of those cases where neither team really deserves to be past the 1st round.

I havent folowed LA at all, but their goal differential and injury issues don't really scream "playoff ready"

Wishing on your first round opponent is always a fools errand, but St Louis\Dallas\Nashville are all going to be tough outs.

I've always thought first place teams should get to choose their opponent...could create some crazy drama

LA could certainly win, especially if they get some players back but its still an easier matchup.

Vegas could be a tough out if they have some miraculous recoveries

Once you're in the playoff it's a different beast.

Weird things can happen... like 8th seed Jackets sweeping 1st seed & Presidents' Trophy Lightning.
