Completely shuts down both the Draisaitl and the McDavid lines head to head, giving them NOTHING. Zero points. Almost kills Connor McDavid by simply brushing against him. I'm surprised McDavid could get up off the ice by himself after that vicious hit.

From Bingos Game Takes:

That's what you want from your shutdown center. Limit their chances, try to suppress the damage they can do. To do it against the "top" two offensive players in the league is somewhat elite.

That in itself is exactly what this team pays him for. So important.

But wait.

Scores two, assists on another, takes eight shots on goal, has 3 takeaways, finishes a +3 with the most ice among Flames forwards.

What a game.
Don't forget Backlund also tried to lay out Smith too. That might have been my favorite play of the night!

What a game.
Looking forward to an encore performance against McKinnon on Tuesday.

They never acknowledge that the flames are any good.

I loved how McDavid just lied on the ice with his head up trying to make it look like it was a head hit when Backlund wasn't even close. So unfortunate that such a talented player has to resort to this level of embellishment. I have never seen such a talented player behave like a total loser like McDavid.

Loved how stunned the SN panel was at the end of the game after watching their beloved Oilers getting absolutely spanked. And then Bieksa rubbing salt in the would, saying "that was a beatdown." So damn enjoyable!

That was one of the best games I’ve seen from Backlund.

If mean Backlund is here to stay the Flames are going to do some damage.

This is just too apt and Bouchard will now be thought of as George Michael to me. Hopefully, someone has the requisite skills to Photoshop some magic out of this.

In addition to the lay-down, Bouchard gets completely focussed on Johnny and it never occurs to him to even consider whether there may be a trailer following up and that it would be his responsibility to take him.

Does SN post those segments anywhere? I'm trying to find it on the site.

Bieksa clearly doesn't follow the script provided by the producers, and he DGAF.

Watching the replay. I thought I might have been over-emotional last night about Singh and Campbell because I hate the Oilers. But no, it really was bad. Enjoying the second viewing a lot though!

Here's what they should've played and keep playing instead of the McDavid highlight pack on HNIC from now on.

What they said on the radio, funny.

Good wild win by the Flames and puts them out of reach for the Oilers to catch up.

Gaudreau with 5 points and 90 now on the season.

I’d also love to know what Koskinen said after the fifth goal. He seemed to be at his wits end.

AC is going to need to hire staff to do highlight videos this year! How long and how many parts just for players on the top line...and then there's Markstroms.

No idea for sure but the words "You suck" could have been involved.

Quite likely the first 3-parter ever for Johnny's highlights.
