Short term pain for long term gain.

Those are some weird rule changes.
One rule I'd like one of these offshoot leagues to try is just no punting.
Feel like that would differentiate yourself from the NFL, and would make more sense than all these weird rule changes mentioned here.

This. Depending on how they use those extra picks they may not even be that worse off.

See: https://www.tankathon.com/nfl
I would say we either include SOS/tiebreakers and bet on where they finish in draft order or just set an O/U for total wins. I would make the bet that they can't finish with a record that would give them a higher pick than 22nd overall in the 2023 draft (which is the 10th best record in football), or set the the O/U for total wins at 9.5, with me taking the under. Your choice.

Well draft order includes playoff results and we are talking regular season...Raiders finished 10th overall in NFL standings last season. Anyway last year is irrelevant.
I will take the over on 9.5 wins...$100 and I am good for it
If someone doesn't pay up they shall be forever shamed on CP

I know puckluck was one poster who made a cash bet and never paid it. Most people are good for it though.

On one hand I'm surprised the Chiefs traded Hill because he demanded so much attention that it freed up every other part of their offence. But that's a pretty big haul of picks, and more often than not if it's not a QB being traded...the team who get's picks should win the trade.
It was hard to warm up to Hill for some of his off field problems. But the guy is an exceptional talent. He was effective playing with Alex Smith as his QB, so I think they'll still be able to get him the ball Miami.
I certainly did not think Hill and Davante Adam's would be on new teams this offseason.

brutal, so done deal...confirmed and signed in blood?
I like when posters back up their trash talk and put their money where their mouth is. Should be an interesting bet, a lot can happen in an NFL season.

It has to be noted that Andy has kind of bombed when it comes to drafting receivers in KC. Hill is the only WR he's drafted that was actually a legit starter.

Following the trade of Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs now have 12 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. No team has more.
They own two picks in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round.
A major opportunity to replenish the roster in a hurry, especially by addressing their need at WR.

Kirk Herbstreit coming onboard for the color commentary part of the team. He also re-upped with ESPN for College Game Day.

Chiefs have the cap space but that's a lot of money for a 500 yard receiver. He will be able to stretch the field for the Chiefs though.

Is he really an upgrade on Hardman though?

He's a different style than Hardman. Hardman is a speedster, but he's pretty small. MVS is a big body type target that the Chiefs really have not had since Dwayne Bowe. I'm not convinced the Chiefs needed to spend this type of money on the player, but they likely think that having his style plus Juju, Hardman, and Pringle will give them enough variation in their looks and matchups to close the gap on what they lost with Tyreek.
I guess they think the draft is where they can find the pieces they need to add to the defence to be able to keep up with the rest of the Division and Conference which seems to be holding more and more of the leagues best offensive cards.

Well the Rooney Rule is expanding away from token interviews to token hires....so progress, I guess???
Quote:
All 32 NFL teams will hire a minority offensive assistant coach for the 2022 season, part of a series of policy enhancements announced Monday to address the league's ongoing diversity efforts.
The coach can be "a female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority," according to the policy adopted by NFL owners during their annual meeting, and will be paid from a league-wide fund. The coach must work closely with the head coach and the offensive staff, with the goal of increasing minority participation in the pool of offensive coaches that eventually produces the most sought-after candidates for head-coaching positions.
"It's a recognition that at the moment, when you look at stepping stones for a head coach, they are the coordinator positions," said Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II, the chairman of the NFL Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. "We clearly have a trend where coaches are coming from the offensive side of the ball in recent years, and we clearly do not have as many minorities in the offensive coordinator [job]."
|
Quote:
In addition to the offensive assistant coach mandate, the league also:
• Added women to the language of the Rooney Rule at all levels. It will now read that women and/or people of color can satisfy the requirement to interview two external minorities for top positions, including head coach. Women are not required to be interviewed, but they are now included in the fulfillment process. It is possible that a team could interview two white women for an open head coach position to satisfy the Rooney Rule, and then make a hire without ever interviewing a person of color.

My guess is there are some more names coming in the rumored Flores revised lawsuit which means the NFL is getting ahead of things here.
Not sure about the token part being done. Teams are being forced to hire someone additional that they aren't even paying (the league is) on a one year contract.

Well, some of you were skeptical but they have changed the postseason OT rules. Guaranteed possession for both teams.
