So am I understanding right that even though the trade deadline has passed, Vegas can still trade Dadonov to another team as long as that team is disqualifying him playing on their playoff roster?

I think you end up seeing Dadonov on waivers tomorrow...with Anaheim likely to pick him up.

He can’t play at all if traded. Even regular season. Servalli hinting that NHL may not allow a trade of him now.

Apparently, it would exclude him from playing at all for the rest of the season, not just the playoffs. So, any team who would be acquiring him would be doing so for the honour of paying him $6.5 million next year.

So, could Vegas just send a draft pick or something to Anaheim for Kesler's contract and take advantage of the LTIR that way? Or would it not count until next season because it is after the trade deadline.

The rule seems to be about players playing this season, but not about non-roster players and their cap hit.

Why would the Duck's pick up Dadanov on waivers now. I kind of feel like the league will reject the balance of the trade if Dadanov gets claimed by the Ducks and then the remainder goes down.

The PA would certainly file a grievance.

Suck it, Vegas! (Please still knock the Oilers out of the playoffs)
But no word of a fine for the attempt at cheating.

Vegas fighting for their playoff lives and Stone and Martinez stuck in LTIR and cannot play. All because McCrimmon did nothing to address the cap issue everyone was aware of until an hour before the trade deadline ended.

That's a foul

Wasn't aware they could be fined for it. Will this lead into an investigation perhaps ?

I don’t think they cheated. I think they screwed up. Just like Feaster didn’t attempt to cheat with ROR.

Do you guys understand football? Baseball? Basketball?

Reading crap like Dino wrote is embarrassing.
alright relax guy, the average fan down there goes to a game to hoot and holler and have a good time. Its an expansion team in a non traditional market...they don't know the game as well, its not an opinion. Sorry if you know people that have been hardcore fans for all of four years with no hardships.

Also, I'm the one who listed multiple US markets that do understand the game

This deal getting void is bigger news in Calgary and Toronto. Vegas is busy with the Raiders new star WR

This is being talked about more on Calgarypuck than Vegaspuck

Looking forward to your thorough sociologic research on this matter to make it "not an opinion".

Unbelievable.

Why should there be a fine? Just making sure the right outcome occurred, isn't that goal? Not sure why there needs to be punishment instilled for all errors that occur? Don't get me wrong, I get the assumption here is that Vegas tried to pull a fast one and people want them to be punished on that, and they may well have, but not sure NHL or any organization wants to get into the business of punishing teams, or people who make mistakes. The trade didn't go through, that's what the checks and balances are in place to try and ensure no?

I think the fine should come from players being stuck on LTIR.

That is the real story here that is being overlooked.

Martinez is ready to come off LTIR, but can't, because Vegas doesn't have the cap space. IMO that's cap circumvention because a non-injured player is on LTIR.

Using that loop hole to get around salary cap issues when a player is actually hurt is one thing. (Kane in Chicago, Kucherov in Tampa) But Martinez has been practicing as a regular for 4 weeks now and the NHL should step in.

Yeah....gonna be more than a little uncomfortable around that room moving forward.

Vegas is in serious trouble without Stone and Lehner and dont need this sideshow that has to affect the guys in the room.

Ha....... ha.

Stupid Vegas. I hope they still sneak in knocking Edmonton out, but that isn't looking all that likely based on their recent play. Them missing completely after their joke attempt at circumventing the cap would make me laugh too, but Edmonton should never make the playoffs again.
