One of the only games this year where the Flames found a way to lose. I thought they were the better team, but Markstrom wasn't as sharp today. In addition, I thought the refs put their whistles away in the 3rd, so a lot of the tripping and holding calls went unnoticed.
All in all, credit the Sharks, they were opportunistic, and also really lucky to win this one. I still got the feeling that the Flames were the better team, and I'm glad they pushed back hard after the Sharks got the lead.

It has been a long season, every team, elite teams included had a sinker game here and there. In next few practice, correct the mistakes and demolish the Oilers, everything will be fine.

Every game this season the Sharks were comically outplayed and won...oh well, end of the day it makes their draft spot worse. I still think the Flames easily walk away with the division...if they lose it by two points well I guess we can look at this one.

Disappointing ending, all went against the grain of the season. I suppose it happens and no reason to panic, but it just sucks knowing they were up 2 twice against a non playoff team and couldn't find a way to drive it home

The second goal doesn’t go in, it’s a different outcome.
Tough break. Hard to let that one slip away.

probably, there are about 10 other plays that could have sealed the deal that all went the Sharks way too
Monahan get the puck out, turnover on the winner, penalty shot, multiple looks at the end ect.

Losing sucks.
Especially to an old, garbage team on home ice with a two separate two goal leads. Also with two days rest between games.
Luckily they can afford some losses here, but come on Flames. Be better. You've spent the last 2.5 months getting us excited, don't start dropping deuces on our heads now.

Things that stood out to me tonight:
- Marky had a bad game
- How many times did we miss the net from the point?
- I think our entire D group was off tonight
- Monahan was the worst I’ve seen him, and seemed to get less ice time as the game went on. He needs to get his motor going. Ruzicka is better than him at this stage, and that’a not great.

I found it interesting that Darryl called the Tanev - Kylington pairing a 3rd pairing tonight in his post game interview.
EDIT: that was the wrong interview I watched my bad, don't know why but I accidentally watched the post game from a much older game.

He is just adding absolutely nothing. He’s not a useful 4th line player - the only one without a role.

Did you see the last game in OT?

The slash right after the puck shove was fine, and he’d gotten away with it. Then he made a really obvious spear to the groin. It was too extra.

What is it with this team that can so easily lose to absolute crap teams. Buffalo? SJ? Montreal? Really?
It's like they've got such a cushy spot, they don't care about those teams and then just get walloped. Oof. That should be a gut punch.
Can't imagine Darryl is too happy with the team's performance tonight, and Marky should take himself out for a few games.

I certainly evaluate bad goals like tonight as a very different type of mistake then an overly aggressive attempt on an offensive play in during the OT crap shoot. 0 reason to give the OT blunder a second thought from Markstrom, tried something risky he’d likely never attempt except in 3 on 3 OT.

Bad bounces for the Flames. Good bounces for the Sharks. What can you do?
Reimer looked like an all star, because several pucks bounced wide or into his body. Markstrom looked like an amateur for the exact opposite reason.

You have a lead in the third against a not very good team. The turning point was not locking it down at that point and skating away with the W.
Some atrocious play in their own zone that will get them killed in the playoffs. Yeah your goalie let in some soft ones, so lock it down when you should and bail him out.
Hopefully they learn something.
I wouldn’t hate a 4th line of Ruzicka, Carpenter and Ritchie for a game or two. A little more energy and speed.
Do they have cap room to carry Ruzicka with the big club now? Roster limit is no longer a concern.

monahan with the very soft clear attempt right up the boards to pickle to make it 2-1 was terrible. I heard there was a penalty shot, i wouldn't know because everyone had to stand up in front of me..

It was giving up those 2 quick goals in the third. I thought the Flames actually played a good high tempo third period, a lot of hard stick to stick passes and great plays, Reimer was the difference and made a couple of huge saves.
Still 19 games left, it's one loss and on to the next. Looks like a favorable schedule down the stretch here for the Flames.
