Markstrom didn't look great all night. I was just saying to myself "I hope Markstrom doesn't face too many more shots" and then they scored 2 goals in under 30 seconds.

I know it wouldn't be a popular move but I would have put in Vladar for the third period.

Oh well, move on.

Kylington had a weak game. Turned puck over too many times. Oh well. You can’t win them all.

Atmosphere at the dome was great! Fun night.

Johnny scores on the penalty shot and it's a different game.

It’s just not a good mix on that line. Both have had better success this year with different linemates.

I actually thought Sutter was a little impatient with his top line mixing as well. Toffoli was looking dangerous and then got taken off in favour of Tkachuk, who was playing fine with Backlund.

Dome music guy was on point with the Sandstorm after the goalie pull. Proper use of the tunes there.

This is exactly what Sutter has to guard against. This is the Flames' playoff pattern. Can't let them slide into that pattern. Will lead to a quick exit.

Hopefully he can chip in with a gaol and help nail down a victory

Meh, whatever. Flames were the better team for the majority of that game, save for a couple of really bad shifts in the 3rd.

Outstanding effort in the last couple of minutes. Reimer was the only reason the Flames didn't tie it up there. Dude was in the zone.

Markstrom was awful. Easily one of his worst games of the season.

Sutter will certainly not be pleased, so I have no doubt the boys will be much sharper next game.

Backlund's in the second, just after the second SJ goal, was as bad or worse, Markstrom bailed him out though.

Take it and learn from it.

Let Markstrom rest until Saturday night and get back on track against ARZ Friday.

I missed the first period. Guessing that was their best, because from what I saw they deserved to lose. Lost too many battles and gave up too many turnovers.

I thought the following Flames played well tonight:

Eatbread
Goalman
Jarnkrok
Ras
Hanafin
Backs
Chucky
Johnny
Dube

Everyone else, yikes, not your finest hour. Rare bad game from Marky and Lindy. Bounce back on Friday.

Big swing late in the second. Johnny fails to make it 4-1 on the penalty shot, then the weak goal makes it 3-2. Too bad they couldn’t lock it down in the third, but they didn’t do enough throughout the game to put them away. Sutter is going to be on them for the turnovers and giveaways.

Despite the two bad goals the loss is not on him. They were still winning when he allowed the second goal. Them sitting back in the third is what lost them the game.

Only being up by one instead of two going into the third shouldn't make you crack if you're a good team.

I would have too - said so in the game thread
