Anyone still think WC tickets are going to be within reasonable prices? They never were.
Edmonton had to sell at that $40 price and still didn't sell out even with milder conditions for the Friday night long weekend game. $20 more and they would've had 25% less people, too.

But, this Toronto game is going to be a "where were you moment". The team will have just qualified a few days earlier and coming home to a hero's welcome in that game, or will potentially qualify in this game. And that why it's going to be in Toronto and not BC or Edmonton.

If the $5 mil goes directly into Infantino's personal bank account, then Vancouver may have a chance of hosting.

Squad is out. Ismaël Koné is the big surprise. He's come out of nowhere and has had a really good start to his MLS career. Central mid who's scored against Santos Laguna and Atlanta in his first 7 games. Has looked an absolute baller when I've watched him.

If Canada is Pot 3 and end up in Group A, they have more than a good shot at R16.

After that, anything can happen.

Herdman has lots of experience preparing for tournaments, so I think he'll have the squad ready and motivated for Qatar.

This week we secure qualification officially, then it's on to the next phase.

Unlucky for Wales. If they win the playoff, they will be on Pot 4 instead of 2 or 3.
But that helps Canada. And we need a lower African to win.

I still can't believe that we're talking about Canada qualifying (on merit and not just as co-hosts in 2026) for the World Cup, the draw, pots, etc. I just want it to be mathematically official before I celebrate anything, but it sure is surreal.

Clinching scenarios for Thursday:

1. Canada Win
Or
2. Canada draw + USA loss to Mexico
Or
3. Canada Draw + Panama Draw or Loss

Is that correct?

Pot 3, Group A would be the dream but as long as they get into Pot 3, that's what matters.

If they are in Pot 4, after winning CONCACAF, while the US and Mexico get Pot 2, that would be a ridiculous travesty. And it would likely cost them a chance at advancing.

But it they get a Pot 3 seed, they have at least a fair chance at advancing.

Well I hope one of US or Mexico go to the playoffs. That gets them out of pot 2. Because if they are both pot 2 Canada can't draw them meaning they get 1 of the other 6, 2 of them are Germamy and Netherlands.

We couldn’t draw them anyway though right?

Two concacaf teams can’t be in the same group?

That's right. So you want the choice of 7 pot 2 teams instead of 6. Less of a discrepancy in pot 4.

it is pretty unbelievable to think of Canada in the World Cup...I was too young to remember the LA world cup, only remember seeing images from those days.

a huge amount of credit to Soccer Canada. I was a little unsure of Herdman, despite his incredible success coaching the Women's side, as the Men's side was just a different animal...

But here they are...all without Davies in the last two windows to boot. I think his injury will make this team stronger in the WC because the young players are getting opportunities and not deferring to Davies.

Finally, I give a lot of credit to the Women's side for showing everyone that it is possible for Canada to do well internationally...obviously, different levels of competition overall, but all kids watched, and were inspired, by watching the Women's side succeed on the international stage.

but if you're in pot 4 you get a pot 3 and a pot 2.

any pot 4 is worse than being in pot 3

I mean there's less discrepancy of which pot 4 team you're going to get compared to which pot 2 team you're going to get. I mean Pot 2 you could get Germany or Senegal. Pot 4, they all suck similarly. Therefore, i want the US in Pot 4 so they are not a blocker in Pot 2, if that makes sense.

No matter what pot you're in, you might end up in Germany's group.

But with respect to pot 3 vs pot 4, there is no argument - 3 is better

Again, you might randomly end up in a group from hell, but pre-lottery, t3 is better than 4. Full stop.

I'm already putting Canada in pot 3 in my analysis

With Canada in Pot 3, it's better if the US is on Pot 4 than Pot 2.
