Dorion gave up a 3rd round pick for an overpaid bottom pairing defenseman that is not a well liked teammate. Can that situation in Ottawa get any more hopeless? One of the worst owners in the league combined with one of the worst GM's and a less than ideal arena situation. Epic disaster of a Canadian organization.

The ripping of a player on the way out is low class. Just keep it to yourself.

Nah. The guy is prickly and like Kane very unpopular in a locker room environment. You expect players not to talk?

Wow. He had me fooled when he was here, or else he changed a lot. Thought he was a stand-up team guy.

What players?

If you are man enough to rip a guy, lets at least put your name to it.

Its bush league stuff to do it anonymously.

And I would venture a guess that if Servalli was told this stuff, it wasnt by players but moreso by management and/or agent(s).

No secret that Travis has become a toxic locker room guy, we experienced it first hand when he wouldn't return to play for the Flames citing the health of his family (understandable at the time due to an high risk child)

But then the guy goes and does a 180 and refuses vaccines and the medicine behind it to the extent that he wont even show up for the start of the season on his new team.

Its either/or buddy, pick a side don't just float in the middle. I can tell you having a high risk kid myself, I was EAGER to get vaccinated ASAP so I could do w/e I could to keep my kid safe.

I don't know what happened but you could tell the Flames were over his bull#### and its no surprise Vancouver was too.

It's possible he got swept up in the politics of the pandemic. It's not like we haven't seen this in other sports like the NFL with Aaron Rodgers, Cole Beasley, etc.

Yes, that’s why I said “changed” - that plus his career plummeting from his initial trade may have really soured him.

Should Marc Methot spill the beans on the players that have told him that Hamonic is a different bird?

I know lots of players. All of them have told me that the new acquisition is a bit of a different bird. Not sure that’s what I’d want around a young core.
Like I said before. Players talk.

He was here for years and I don't recall murmurs about how terrible of a guy he was when he left here.

Look at Hamonic’s history

1- publicly requests a trade from his first team
2- bails on his next team when he is a pending UFA to not play in the bubble. The only guy in the league to do that
3- remains away from his next team because he is anti-vax

I am a bit of a sour Flames fan because he was such a waste of assets for this team and remains one of if not the biggest blunder of Teeliving’s time here.

Well he never played for the Flames during the pandemic did he? Also he left under less than normal circumstances in that he skipped the bubble with the Flames. Really it's like he vanished as part of the team as they moved on.

Ummmm...what?

No. He played that season until covid shut the entire league down, then opted out of playing in the bubble months later which he was certainly entitled to do.

At the time, I was fully understanding of Hamonic for opting out of the bubble for personal reasons. Players were given the choice if they felt comfortable or not going into the bubble, and he didn't. We didn't know much about Covid then, or what the potential impacts were, so I didn't hold that against him at all.

But now to be antivax about it, especially when his original reason opting out of the bubble was to protect the health of a family member really doesn't make any sense, and I can see how that can rub other teammates the wrong way.

You are right. I should have said "skipped the bubble".

This is a bizarre one.

I've dealt with Hamonic several times before. Super polite, great to fans, and of course, very generous giving lots of time to kids who dealt with similar circumstances to him. Never heard anything negative about him during his time here.

Lots of smoke, but I'm going to put this in the 'mostly BS' department. It's going to take way more than a couple tweets to undo what I saw with my own eyes.

At the time of the Flames trade, it was an overpayment but he didn't even meet the bare minimum expectations on the ice. Huge disappointment. Missing the playoffs that year after trading him was borderline disaster.

Sure he was fearless on the ice, but that's all he brought. Couldn't do anything right and I was glad we moved him.

Starting to sound like he might be a locker room problem too, so good on Vancouver for finding a sucker to take him.

Let’s not forget that Hamonic made Brodie a huge whipping boy on this site. Whoever he was paired with was substantially better once they were moved away from him. Brodie and Hanifin played their best when not paired with Hamonic. Disastrous deal that weakened the prospect pool and made it tough for the Flames to make moves after as they were lacking key picks for multiple drafts.

Bailed on the team in the bubble...played a few months later when not in a bubble and money was back on the table

Guy went full Tucker Carlson, probably supports Putin

Hamonic marches to his own drummer, that's for sure. The sport has a rich, colourful history of full of eccentrics and oddballs.

Good or bad, after a while, the schtick gets old. Team sports demand conformity.
