Does Dadonov have a say in it now? Like could he just waive his NTC?
From his point of view, it probably sucks being on a team that he knows just tried to trade and sees him as expendable.
Of course, it would also be unfair to him to put the decision on him because if he says no to the trade, the other players might see him as the reason other more effective players can't be activated to play.
Kind of sucks for Dadonov either way.

Well if it has gotten to this point, it likely means Dadonov does not want to go to Anahiem. It would be Dadonov's agent telling the league about the problem.
If he was willing to go the NTC issue would be moot...

Either that, or by missing the deadline, he waived his NTC.
Or, the logical decision - it was the same list as the year before. Which included Anaheim.

Re: Dadonov trade.
This is the kind of stuff that makes the NHL look like a Mickey Mouse league. Straight up embarrassing.

Oh, I see. I kind of assumed that the NHL noticed Dadonov's contract had a clause asked Vegas for the trade list before they would process the trade and Vegas couldn't produce one, so the trade was nixed by the league possibly with no input from Dadonov.

This is on vegas. They should know the contract clauses for their players. If the list had the ducks on it then they should have gotten him to sign the waiver.

The precedent set by Berglund is that if a player doesn't submit their list by the deadline set forth in the contract, the team is free to trade them to wherever they want but who knows how differently Berglund's NTC is written compared to Dadonov.

Yeah I think any of the three could be possibilities depending on the drafting and construction. Interesting. I think it would hinge on whether the player could submit a list or must submit a list.

If it was filed on time (7/1/2021) it was while he was a member of the Senators.
Maybe it is their fault for this whole mess.

No...the question is whether he would have no NTC at all, or if his list from the previous year would carry over.

This stuff happens in all leagues. The Chris Paul to the Lakers trade. Baseball and football have plenty of other things to be embarrassed about.

The difference with Berglund is it was the first year his M-NTC kicked in - he had full NTC in 17-18 which changed to a 20 team no-go list on July 1, 2018 - and STL made the trade that very day.
Dadonov's NTC terms seem to be a consistent 10 team no-go list each year. The question seems to be whether you need to submit a list each year even if there are no changes to it.

The thread title makes it sound like the thread didn’t go thru because of some sort of Ocean’s Eleven situation at NHL offices. Or maybe Tre jammed the fax lines to keep the trade from going thru.

Don't contracts get filed with the NHL?
