Didn’t see this anywhere else, probably takes Forsberg off the market

Make a handshake deal with Monahan. We won’t trade you before this run but you have to waive for whoever we want in the summer. Seems fair.

Congrats on your pregnancy.

Yesterday was a very busy day for trade deadline eve... will be interesting to see if that makes today busier, or dead quiet.

Would love the Flames to pick up something to mix up the 4th line some, and create some contract flexibility for next year. Not sure it's possible.

At the same time, this is the best, most exciting, deepest Flames team in many years guided by a coach that can get the best out of them. Baring injuries or a complete collapse this is a team that, as is, is set to make a decent run. I won't be horribly disappointed if Tre got all his shopping done early and spends today driving up the price of middling pickups for our rivals.

Flames Crazy trade idea?

Would the Flames consider adding Chara on the back end?

The cap hit could fit, he has that deep playoff experience. Past his prime but still something to add in terms of defencemen depth.

What Swedes are out there and available? Clearly, that's the way the Flames are going.

And fear.

You gonna finish that check on Johnny with Zadorov, Lucic, Gudbranson, Chara all hoping you do something so stupid?

yeah and Scott Stevens doesn't currently have a contract to my knowledge. even more physical intimidation and playoff experience on the back end for our playoff run.

I'd only do that if there were literally no takers this year. Then it's a no lose proposition. If we can move him now we should move him now and not have to worry about cap gymnastics later. Bonus is that it gives us some cap room to make another addition before the TDL passes for this season.

That would cost us an asset. If we are looking at saving salary we can just keep the asset and buy him out at season's end. Monahan is fine as a 4th line C going into the playoffs and if you move him now you disrupt the room.

Why would he agree to that when he has a NTC?

They can't trade him before this run without his consent anyway.

Only to 10 teams he submitted at seasons start.

Thanks. Since he would not be traded as a rental, he likely submitted good teams that have no cap room to take him on anyway, especially for next year.

I'm fine with that too... that's why I said without retaining much. If we have to retain significant dollars I'd rather just wait until the offseason and try to move him again or just buy him out if we can't.

Meh, if it were me I'd probably submit locations/teams that I legitimately don't want to spend the next year and a half around. So I'd pick Buffalo, Edmonton, Arizona, Ottawa, Winnipeg and then the last five I'd let my accountant pick on the basis of tax rates.

I like the idea of Chara and Parise

Chara should play limited games, but can you argue with the type of leadership he could bring to a cup squad? Familiar with Lucic. Maybe he inspires something extra in Ruzicka... lol

Parise is a guy who should still be hungry to win a cup. He has amazing playoff stats over his career. Perfect piece to play throughout the lineup no fuss.

If both are willing to come it would be a win imo.
