Man has his value plummeted. Now a single third is a laughable overpayment.

Calgary acquired Hamonic from New York for a 2018 first round pick, a 2018 second round pick and either a second round pick in 2019 or 2020.

Still way better than Treliving's first-round pick and two second-round picks, at the same time.

I've seen lots of posts, but I still do not understand this, so I reiterate...

I thought his daughter had an immune disorder and he sat out the playoffs to protect his family. How could he be an antivaxer?

There were reports he was considering retirement rather than get vaccinated. I don't know if I would call him an anti-vaxxer but it sounds like he was atleast vaccine-hesitant.

not really, at the time Hamonic was highly sought after, other teams were offering as much the Islanders just assumed the Flames picks would be higher. He had a couple really strong seasons with the Islanders.

Now he is coming off a few poor years and overpaid for what he brings to the table...Flames let him walk

He cleared waivers this season, every NHL team including the Sens could have had him for free but they decided they would rather pay a 3rd. They must be moving him retained for a 3rd and a 4th or something. This can't be the end of the story.

He's a total nut job when it comes to all that stuff...basically held out until the last second until he finally realized he is playing in Canada so if he wants 3M he needed to get a ####ing shot. Prefers to treat covid with beat juice and wheat grass.

Where have you been?

Haminic was suspended without pay because he refused to get vaccinated.

I dunno lol. I tried posit that harmonic was probably either a selfish guy or low IQ (or both) in mid-2020 and people were having none of it. Posters on this board skewed me for it. So I took a bit of a break from the board to spend more time with my actual friends lol.

I don't really care about a fringe defenseman one way or another, so must have missed the news of him being an anti-vaxer. Kind of puts a new spin on "sitting out the playoffs because he wanted to protect his family" though.

That Methot post on harmonic is pretty aggressive too lol.

2018-19 must have been fun with Hamonic, Smith, Neal, Peters. Sounds toxic.

Rightly or wrongly I think Hamonic really pissed off his teammates here when he opted out of the playoffs in 2020.

Again, not saying he was wrong to do so, but I think that was the reaction from his teammates. And guys around the league talk.

Hamonic was very quietly loud (if that makes sense) about being against mandatory vaccination. It was why he was sitting out the start of the season. It's why he wasn't going on road trips to start the season. He only vaccinated once he had no other choice to play in Western Canada.

I think that because he sat out in 2020 because there was so little known about the dangers of COVID and worried about his immuno compromised child and then turned around and was flouting the idea of the vaccine after we knew exactly how dangerous it was, was a fact not lost on the other players on the team.

If he had sat out and then just got the vaccine, I don't think anyone has an issue. I think that he was dumb hypocrite about it did not go over well.

Lots of guys made sacrifices to play in the bubble. I'm sure it didn't go unnoticed that he wasn't prepared to do that. SO at that point, your reputation amongst your colleagues will likely impact their views on the reasons behind your decision.

Still doesn’t explain why the Sens gave up a third for him. I mean, the trade happened yesterday and the TDL is over now and it still makes no sense for Ottawa.

Strangest trade I remember in a looong time. Maybe someone in the Knucks org has some 'pictures' of Melnyk or Dorion.
