Still well back of any actual contender out of the east. And last out of PO teams in goal differential, which is often a good predictor.
They’re actually 11-4. But the biggest part of that was a 5 game winning streak in February. Since then they’re 5-3, and the wins were narrow one goal games against against Columbus, Arizona, Chicago (x2) and Winnipeg.
They really haven’t looked good against good competition.

Not much of a secret that st. Louis is shopping binnington, with the emergence of Husso. Serivelli and parsons both mention Edmonton, with expiring contracts Kostinen and Archibald going back. Go Holland.

A weak link for them has been Coyle playing between hall and pasta. He is more of a shutdown third line center. They could do some postseason damage with a more offensive Krecji substitute.

3rd highest points % in the NHL since the calendar flipped to 2022, ahead of teams like Carolina, Pittsburgh, Calgary. 2nd highest xGF% 5 on 5 in the NHL over that stretch, behind only the local team.
GF% is 10th, as their goaltending has lagged behind other teams'.

The Bruins have the second best record in the league since the new year, hard to say they've been slipping lately. They had a rough start. They have wins against the Avs, Caps and Bolts in there- and close losses in Denver and Minnesota. Bizarre to say they haven't held their own against playoff teams.
Coyle hasn't centered that line since the fall. Haula plays between Pastrnak and Hall.. Coyle centers the third line and that lines been great lately. Regardless, they need middle six center and another defensemen to have a shot.

The Preds have a tonne of cap space and if they don't think they can re-sign Forsberg, I could see them going all in this year. They might not have the biggest window at the moment, but it could end up being their best chance in a while.
Giroux would actually fit that team like a glove IMO, but given what has been said about Giroux's plans, it seems unlikely he would go there.

It's interesting how the Rangers re-build is arguably ahead of pace, despite the fact their two highest picks (AF and Kakko) have not be good.

They're 3 points back of Tampa and being the third best team in the Conference. I guess you think only Florida and Carolina are contenders?
Really any of the 8 teams in the East except Toronto and a case for them being able to win the Conference and get to the Cup Finals.
There's more distance between Colorado and Calgary than there is from the top team in the East to the 8th place team. I guess no one in the West is close to the Contender?

I think the Bruins are the easiest out in the east, other than maybe Toronto. I like TB, Fla, NYR, Carolina, Pitts, and Caps better. Bergeron has taken a step back and is now injured. The Perfection Line has been broken up at times, they are playing guys like Lazar and Foligno on a regular basis. As for comparisons out here, I don’t compare East v. West because the East builds their record on a lot more bottom teams.

Bergeron will only be out for a few games, and he leads the league in 5 on 5 xGF% by a large margin. Hasn't exactly taken a step back as far as I can tell.
My 2c... Rangers & Caps are easier outs than Bruins or Leafs (provided Kallgren gives them consistent goaltending).

He's 99 percent wrong on anything else but hits the Flyers stuff regularly .

He's just a parrot. Other media sources have been reporting Florida as the front runner for as long as he has.

All these "early" moves must be killing the crews putting together the trade deadline shows for Sportsnet and TSN. How many hours of coverage do they plan for on deadline day? Most of the big deals are done already so it will be a boring deadline.

He's always had actual insider info when it comes to the Flyers.
