+1 for the Brick Bin on Edmonton Trail. Found a handful of pieces I was missing there. They've got a HUGE selection of parts and pieces.

Don't get sucked into buying their sealed sets though! Bricklink is always better, and so is kijiji or Facebook marketplace. I've sold dozens of my own sets to Brickbin for more than I could get on kijiji, but yet they are able to resell them for more, I am guessing because they have a store front.

my wife found a retired lady on facebook marketplace that buys up pretty much any used lego she sees and then uses the pieces to complete sets, then she resells the now completed sets on facebook. she has a huge inventory of pieces and is just awesome. my wife has bought tons of sets off this lady and as a result she's met our kids and adores our daughter. she pulls out the cute little animals she doesn't need and then messages my wife that she has a little something for our daughter.
this lady is in kelowna, so probably not much help to those in calgary, but i'd bet there are similar people in your area - you just have to find them

Thanks. I'll try brick bin before ordering online.
The thought of paying $2 shipping for a $0.10 piece wasn't appealing.

Yeah, that's what sent me to Brick Bin, too. Keep in mind that it is, literally, bins. Unless you have a common, easily found part, you will be spending some time rooting THROUGH a bin for it.

Ha ha, thanks for that heads up. I was going to email the guy a big list but sounds like I'll have to put in the work myself. LOL.

Yeah, they don't have inventory of their parts.
The nice thing is they charge per pound, so you can get some "rare" pieces for much cheaper than on Bricklink.

Glad to help. I found the whole process pretty fun, actually, and the staffer there was quite helpful. They have huge tables so you can dump part of the bins out if you want, or keep it all in one place, at a good height to look through. The staffer I dealt with was quite knowledgeable, and not only knew exactly what bins to look through, but also helped (I had a list of 8 parts) and he found 6 in the time it took me to find 2...while we chatted about LEGO stuff in general.

dub, I would also think about moose's suggestion to make a list on bricklink. it will try and find the best deal with the fewest amount of sellers to minimize shipping. pieces on there are insanely cheap usually so as long as you can limit it to just a couple transactions, it might still come out better than in person.
There's not an official lego store or lego focused reseller in Tulsa so I am pretty bricklink dependent myself.

You could also try finding the piece number and looking it up on bricklink. It will tell you all the other sets it's in and you might get lucky.

Finished my first lightmybricks kit. And my last.
I mean it looks cool and all, but what a pain in the ass these are. Just about every aspect of it was a nightmare, from having to take apart an already delicate set to insert wires or lights or whatever, to handling the finicky miniscule lights themselves and cables, to the instructions that were longer than my thesis
The 3M sticky pads simply didn't stick to anything, I don't know if it's our climate or what. Had to improvise with tape and tweezers
Then some of the cords themselves which have to go under bricks create a very insecure set is everything doesn't sit together? Nice. When you have five rows of bricks with a cord under each row, it's obviously going to be unbalanced in the end.
Then there's a huge unsightly jumble of wires I just stuffed wherever I could behind it. They're so delicate. I dare not wrap, roll, and fold them up like the instructions said
I think the worst part is it was very hard for me to see the connectors themselves. Even with a 2x magnifying headset
If I had to do it again (and again, I won't) I would skip the interior rooms on this set.
But... after receiving it as a gift, then sitting in the box for over a year, then four months on my desk, boom:

Fuuu.....If I break down and buy this, I'm going to have to go back and buy a bunch of other sets like the 1989 Batman sets.

I have the original LEGO Back To The Future DeLorean - the minifig sized one from Lego Ideas. This new set looks nice, but throwing the minifigs in there messes up the scale.
