Flames Eat Bread appreciation thread

Andrew ....you make me smile.
That motor you have that never stops.
Those T shirts you helped design rock.
Your enthusiasm....and ascension in the league and on this team.
I think you need the C.

I love this kid. He's pretty underrated, underappreciated (maybe not anymore)
And now a career year under Darryl .

The future is bright and this guy posseses so much good....I'd slap the C on him right now if it weren't for the fact that I like another 2 players that could be the new Captain too...(Tanev and Toffoli)

Anyway....I dug for anything before creating this but no one can say he's not deserving....especially since he will put up more #'s.

Go Flames Go

The fact that Mangiapane hit 30 goals deserves its own thread. Maybe rename this one?

Ahh... going back to his re-signing thread brings back memories of when some people were fighting me on how great a player Mangiapane is.

Absolute stud.

Such an amazing story. How could anyone not root for this guy?

don't forget AGM Zebulon! he just has to bring in a few more childhood friends and he'll win the locker room vote in a landslide

Love Bread. Loved him dating all the way back to the Penticton tournament where I thought he outplayed Sam Bennett, it was a shocker to me how good this kid was.

After Mangi’s rookie season, I was so impressed, I actually made a bet with myself that if he hit 20 goals the next season, I would buy his jersey and place BREAD as the nameplate. He never did hit 20 due to the season being cut short. I should probably pick it now that he’s hit 30 and possibly on his way to 40. But I don’t even know if he’ll be here after this season.

Hope he does stay though as he drives the secondary scoring for this team.

You know you have a good team when a secondary scorer has a chance at 40 goals.

It's not easy scoring 30 goals. He's a bit of a niche player, you can't deny his work ethic though. Good player Andrew Mangiapane is for sure.

I'd like to see Mangiapane with Gaudreau and Lindholm if things get stale. Obviously you leave the top line alone until there's a need. I think Mangiapane would get 45-50 on that line if deployed all year honestly

So many options on this team though. Would enable you to slot Tkachuk with Backlund again but this time with Toffoli on the RW. Maybe a little slow but three really smart, skilled and responsible players. Coleman is like the best third liner in the league so I'd give him his own line with Jarnkrok and Dube which I think would give Dube a better chance to succeed with smart players like that. Lucic Monahan and Lewis as your 4th. I think in the playoffs, Sutter will lean on his top 9 more and you could see them losing minutes but play some special teams. Really slow meh 4th line but I think that top 9 is amazing. We might actually see Sutter blender the lines more in playoffs like he used to in his fist stint. There's so many possible combinations there. Just gotta push the right buttons here and that's Sutter's biggest strength

No one on the team calls the kid "eat bread". I don't fall in love with players.
Next string please this one is just too much man love.

Yeast Mode will be fully on display in these playoffs.

Mangiapane has an eliminator vibe to me

Great player who goes to the hard areas and has the tenacity for the puck in the opposition zone. I have to say I was one of those who doubted him for his size earlier on when the Flames had too many small players but he seemed to have shone through and beyond.

Out of all the Canadian born players in the NHL Mangiapane is third in goals this season behind McDavid and Matt Duchene.

I'd have to go back and check, but this is likely the first time since Reichel, Roberts, Niewendyk, and Fleury in 93-94 where the Flames will have 4 players likely eclipse the 30 goal mark.

Not too often a guy can score this many goals without consistently getting the premium ice time. This might prove to be the freak outlier season of his career. But guys who play his role and score 25 are really valuable. When they pop like he has this year that bumps a team up a notch or two in terms of status.

That was a big game he had last night winning 3-1 and giving the Flames a 3-2 series edge in a critical game.
