Know what would be awesome...adding Zdeno Chara
Him as your 7th d-man heading into the playoffs would be pretty cool. He's had a rough season, but he's a guy you'd trust to throw into a playoff game in the middle of the series and not be overwhelmed by the moment.
Maybe Lucic can convince him it's a good idea to come to Calgary for a couple months.

VAN has three games against VGK, so they could put the nail in their coffin. Also 2 games vs. DAL. It could all come down to the final game of the year in EDM. (6 total against these rivals)
EDM also plays DAL twice, but VGK and VAN just once. (4 total)
DAL needs to right their ship...next 2 games are MTL and NYI. 1 game against VGK, 2 EDM, 2 VAN (5 total)
VGK has 5 games against the rivals, but since 3 are against VAN they don't really help them climb back.
Each team controls their own destiny; VAN has a good path to make up their pts and games in hand deficit.

Chiarot was a monster in MTL's cup run...despite having just 2 pts and a -6. Of course Weber/Petry were the true workhorses, but Chiarot narrowly edged Weber for the team lead in TOI as their best LHS.
He's a nice #3 D-man. David Savard is probably a better comp...he was also a big overpay, but can't argue with the final result. It'll be interesting to see what Nick Leddy ends up costing. Bigger cap hit, smaller body, but probably a slightly better player. Chiarot is a better fit for FLA and might give them more room for another add.

So Giordano was held out of the game last night, despite being honoured for 1,000 games...
If he isn't traded today (i.e. a trade was done last night before the game), then I'm sorry, but that's a doochy move.

If Montreal really wanted Pelletier you would think they would have had a better chance getting him for Toffoli than they would have for getting him for Chiarot.

I suppose if they are continuing to work the details of a deal, you don't want him playing and getting injured. Just a fluke that the first game he's back since breaking 1000 was right at the TDL.

Don't know if he has anything left in the tank, but he will only cost $375k against the cap in the AHL if he clears waivers.
Might be something the Flames considers if he clears?
Would be an insurance rental if Valimaki and Mackey aren't ready.

Sekera might make sense, he looked pretty good in Dallas's run in the bubble. 46 games of playoff experience
