Neo Citran ate me up tonight. Looks like the Flames ate the Devils also. All of my demons are gone.

Assuming Jarnkrok’s test is good, sure. I just learned he hasn’t played C on a regular basis for 5 years. So I suspect he goes with Backlund and Coleman. Lewis platoons with Ritchie.

Anyone else think that Monahan with Toffoli and Mangiapane looked good? If Monahan can win face offs and distribute the puck, there is less need for him to score on that line. He is possibly the most snake bitten player in history right now. I mean, Brett Ritchie scored tonight. Brett. Ritchie.

They looked good, created a fair number of chances. Monahan had one stellar chance that could easily have gone in, and a couple others that were pretty good. But more than that, they were solid in their own end I thought, and transitioned very well. They are a pretty good cycling line together.

TBH with the quality of depth we have, and at home with the last change so Sutter gets matchups, most teams 3rd and 4th lines (or 2nd line) will struggle to matchup well with the Flames bottom 2 lines…so lots of player combinations will work out well, it’s more how the chemistry between the Flames’ linemates goes rather than the opponent’s resistance.

If you asked any poster here prior to us landing Toffoli and Jarnkrok almost everyone would have thought Pelletier would be going the other way. Incredible performance by Treliving so far and though it’s early it’s moves like this that give consideration for GM of the year. Which is crazy because admittedly I was one of the upset fans with Treliving when he didn’t land Eichel saying 8 years was 3 years to many. Credit where credit is due, Treliving has been acting like the wizard of old I just pray that he handles what needs to be handled in the off-season! Until then though let’s buckle up and enjoy this team!

What a couple months
|
On January 15th a Flames - Golden Knights game was postponed. On that date, Vegas led the Pacific with 48 points in 39 games. Calgary was sitting with 40 points in 34 games, behind Vegas, Anaheim, LA, and San Jose, though with cancellations we had between 3 and 6 games-in-hand on all those teams.
On March 16th, the Flames lead the Pacific with 81 points in 60 games, having picked up 41 points in 26 games, no one within 7 points of us, and we still have games-in-hand on most of the teams chasing us.
This has been the best two months of Flames hockey since the 80s, has to have been.

That's how I see it to start as well. Lewis just seems out of place there, makes too much sense to put him on that line. I like him, but he's playing a bit out of his league.
Coleman-Backlund-Jarnkrok
