I would do that for Zacha, but probably not for Domi....

Marcus Johansson can play C, and is still a very strong two-way player. He would likely be cheaper than some of the other options we've discussed, and would be a great 3rd line option. He currently has 23 points in 49 games.

I think I like it. This should be a thing.

Has Johansson been healthy this year? He's historically made of glass. Nice player but seems like a high risk of not playing.

I don't see us paying the hefty prices for a offensive upgrade at C. I am curious if, instead, the flames try to improve the 3rd line C to be a more gritty, heavy forecheck and defensively sound 3rd line C. That leaves monahan and ruzicka fighting it out for the 4th line spot

You're right, he's missed 12 games this year....

I've brought him up before, but I would die to bring Lawson Crouse aboard. He would be great under Sutter. He's a LW though, and would cost too much, but I would easily start at Dube+prospect+pick.
He had a hattrick tonight...

I was happy when Jersey got him and he's been hurt pretty much every season since.
The Flames can do better, someone like Stasny.

Zad has steadied and been good after a rocky start but Gudbranson has been solid since the get go. I think he’s the more important player and should come cheaper too. Feels like he’s really found a home here.

Serivali on the fan thinks the flames are lurking in the weeds for a big deal and Monahan is obviously the piece they move.

I can’t imagine it’s even possible, but if you could turn Monahan+all the futures into Barzal I think it could put the group over the top.

Monahan
Coronato
2023 1st
2024 1st
for
Barzal
Is this an overpay? I'd like to keep one of the firsts but I feel like it'll cost the Flames around a 1st to move Monahan.

If we are trading Monahan it will be to dump his salary and take on a cheaper younger C who is more suited for the 3rd line.
Taking on a contract like Barzal would place us in the same spot with our other UFA/RFA this summer.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Swing away, but it will still be for a rental. Monahan's salary needs to go in the off season to afford our UFA/RFA guys.

Like it or not, that's likely what the cost would be, although I doubt they move him.
Calgary is not in a position to take on that much salary anyway, unless Johnny walks.

The prospect and pick better be good to land a player like him.

Wow if Monahan agrees to be moved to a bad team he truly is a great soldier and deserves a lot of love from us as fans.
