Plus player on Winnipeg, 17 goals (on pace for 27) and playoff experience is enough to convince me.

Stastny is 57% faceoffs this year.

Would be good to get a Winnipeg perspective, but is something like Dube + 2nd (one of the two) or 3rd (next year) enough to land him?

Being able to shed Dube's salary and Stastny coming off the books after the run would help our Gaudreau/Tkachuk situation that little bit more.

Which is all good. But if the plan is to find someone to play with Mangiapane and Toffoli, I think we need more of a playmaker, puck distributor.

(not trying to #### on this, just thinking out loud here)

Call me crazy but I think Ruzicka worked really well there.

But how much trust can you put in a rookie to keep that up. I don't know.

I would rather not lose Dube if possible.

A 2nd and a prospect should get it done for a rental - Heineman?

Yeah, he has been okay. But not great at faceoffs, not physical, inexperienced, and not very aggressive. This is where the upgrade is needed.

Lindholm
Statsny
Backlund
Monahan
Dube, if needed
Ruzicka
Richardson

That is playoff depth

He belongs to Montreal. Toffoli trade.

Don't think pure size for a forward is required for depth.

Marcus Nilson may have been the most underrated player on the 2004 team
Iginla.went out of his way to say how much he enjoyed playing with him and his skill level.

If ”The Shift” Game TB is Iginla best shift on the ice, it is Nilson's as well; he and Iginla were playing pass that whole shift.
Nilson scored GWG OT game 1 vs Detroit, big goals vs SJ, and the best chance to win the Cup in Game 6 TB in OT.

Sutter got him at the deadline. 18 years later a player like him would make a lot of sense. 3c has to have decent speed, skill but also a bit of an edge (something Backlund doesn't have) to get dirty to get some chances.

However, much to the chagrin of the board, I think we have that player in Monahan. Crossing streams here but let's give him a 6 week rest on LTiR, ready for round 1 game 1 and use his cap space for a depth winger and defenceman.

Okay, Stromgren or Francis would be fine

Looking at last game, 47 shots and no ice breaker (fatigue be damned), I wouldn't hate one more natural goal scorer, even if its a bit redundant with Toffoli and Mangiapane.

Stastny fits the bill, as good as Jarnkrok, if not better.

Can't imagine any universe where he's less effective there than Monahan.

Stastny has over 500 assists in his career, I’ve always thought of him as a natural playmaker.

Stastny would be a nice add but he's going to cost significant assets. Plus, $3.75M of cap room would need to be made.

Would love to keep him, but he's kinda priced himself out of his role - would rather bet on Pelletier for 1.44M less next year.

I'd also rather trade Dubé than dig the pick deficit deeper. He might be more attractive to teams who are re-tooling moreso than rebuilding (WPG) than a 2023 pick.

Jarnkrok is not a real centre and hasn’t played the position all year.

This.

Would love to keep Dube at 1-1.5M

At 2.3 AAV he's very expendable. I'll roll the dice with Pelletier there.
