I honestly couldn't care less about who wears the armband. Completely irrelevant discussion when you have about 47 more pressing issues at the club.

Well I do. And judging from the reports coming out about it being an issue the players do too.
Because it reflects the standards and the ethos of the club as a whole
The armband is for a leader. Someone that the players respect, will follow. Someone with character. Give it to someone that leads.
Fix that issue and you might just fix a chunk of the 47 with it.

who is it that leads then? The guy who jets off to Portugal on derby day without even telling the manager? The guy who sulks after rightfully being benched on derby day after playing #### for months? Who else? Who of this lot deserves to?

not to defend Maguire, I just don't think it makes that much of a difference. You don't need to wear the armband to be a leader ... United's had lots of them who rarely wore it.

Anyone but that liability of a slab head. Someone with character. Someone with desire. Standards. Ronaldo. Varane. Even frickin Fred.

Anyone the players look up to.

Yes. You don't need to wear the armband to be a leader but you do need to have some sort of leadership qualities to wear the armband.

Pretty disastrous day for Everton with their result coupled with others. Today is probably the first time I seriously think they will go down. Before today I just figured they'd be able to squeeze out just enough to survive, but they are in a dire situation now when you look at their upcoming fixtures. Can't imagine Lampard has much rope here, Big Sam time might be beckoning.

It's not VAR. It's the clowns in charge of VAR.
One thing to miss it in real time. Another to have the benefit of slo mo replay and not even call the ref to the monitor.

I can't believe Watford beat Southampton. Watford has been terrible and Southampton have been pretty good. I didn't watch that, but I figured that was another loss for Watford. The only surprise about Everton losing is that it was only 1-0.

Everton look...not as though they're in a relegation battle, but rather that they're making an active effort to be relegated.

Which is crazy for a fairly steady, mid-table club. They are just awful this year.

I look at their team and they've got some decent players but their form is terrible.

Salisu and Forster gifted Watford the opening goal, but Saints were quite dreadful on the day. It certainly didn't help that Broja left the game with a knock. Oh well, Saints should be safe from relegation and there's no chance of moving up much in the table, so they might as well prepare to be humiliated by Man City in the FA Cup lol.

Crystal Palace was my late Father-in-Law's team.

Come on Palace...do us a solid here.

Not ideal, but better than a City win.

Thanks Ken! RIP.

So I'm checking the box-score...did City seriously go with their Starting XI and make no changes? No subs whatsoever?

Weird.

It’s tough to find quality depth on their shoestring budget.

I just find it so odd. You're not breaking through a stalwart Palace defence and yet you've got Sterling, Gundogan and Jesus on the bench.

Jesus! You literally benched Jesus! Confession is going to be a grim time for Pep this weekend.

"Holy Father I have sinned...I benched Jesus..."

Granted, the good Holy Father would probably absolve his sins for some sweet, sweet Mid-East Cash.

Do they still do Indulgences? I'm sure they could scrounge up a few for the right price.

Honestly, this club is absolutely shameless. How they can even come out with "sporting integrity" has to be a joke?

Christ, VAR continues to be such a joke. Wouldn't have made a difference but Kane clearly got fouled in the box at the end there.

Arsenal with some schoolboy defending and Firmino with the finish!
