That's what I find hard to understand. I get the ingrained loyalty soldiers have to carrying out order in a war, but when you get the order to shoot a maternity hospital, they are still free-thinking humans that can say no. Call in to the Ukrainian air control and tell them you are a Russian plane surrendering and wish to land.

There is a good chance that the pilot didn't know what he was targeting, but someone in the chain of command did and could have said no. I expect when the war crimes tribunals get set up, a lot of these guys will try the Nuremburg Defense, good luck with that.

And yeah, I get that some of these soldiers have families at risk back at home. It's not an easy decision to not be an evil POS sometimes I guess.

I doubt the Russian troops generally know what they’re shooting at. A target you're given is just coordinates and concrete.

Not surprisingly, they have denied it and claim this is “fake news”. They Russian people are told that these scenes are staged with actors by the Ukrainians to make the Russians look bad. Nevermind that the events were corroborated by independent AP reporters I guess.

That's not for lack of trying. They advanced on Kyiv a few times but their tanks all get knocked out. Russia's generals are obviously frustrated with the comrades dying recently so are trying to "soften" the targets up and massing more troops before moving again.

People don’t give ukraine credit but they actually have the 22nd strongest ranked military in the world. Just a bit stronger than Canada’s.

Ukraine's military has the advantage of the countries size as well. Canada's military probably wouldn't be able to put up a effective resistance for long just based on the sheer size of Canada. If Russia did invade, its likely that the Canadian Forces would defend Quebec and Ontario and leave the rest.


In Ukraine with the smaller size of that country a small military can bring more weight to bear.

Once again, for the umpteenth time in 2 years the World has been given a warning about sovereign self-sufficiency in independence.

Be it Energy, Medical equipment and supply, vaccines, fuel and now food.

I cant imagine why anyone would think we'd take this warning seriously while we've ignored all the others.

Ukraine should formally ask China for military equipment and aid.

Ukraine has nothing to lose, and China might actually tell Putin that this is putting them in an uncomfortable position so get the #### out of Ukraine.
