Matthews is becoming my favorite player just for sporting that mustache and hair

He looks like a character you create for a video game while trying to make it look funny

It's doing the same thing as the Oilers playoff chances, receding.

You could see that the Flames looked calm and confident last night. Bodes really well for the team!

To me that's as solid a third period as you could ask for.

If they could bottle up that formula to be applied in the playoffs when needed this spring could really be something.

Calgary doesn't have even one 8 million dollar players, while Edmonton has 3 that are over which includes the highest paid player in the league and they have their own 9 million defense man, so Edmonton is better (Oil thinking). They do trail Calgary in goal, but just by 1.5 million for their top goalie, but almost equal in the tandem (Koskinen and Smith)... so if they acquire and pay their next goalie 6 million or more (regardless who it is), they'll be equal or better than Calgary in all aspects of the game - Oil thinking. We know they pay all their coaches and ex-coaches more than Calgary - so their coaching must be better.

Oil thinking is so easy. Higher paid players are better, so overpay at every position. Higher drafted players are better - so pay them more and they'll be better... Repeat. If you can't make the playoffs - give up as soon as you realize it and tank for the remaining of the season so you can win the draft lottery again and again and again and again. Repeat.

Darryl brings up a good point. Too players have to be able to score on o-zone forecheck. Not just in transition.

The two guys up north do virtually all their work on the transition or PP. They don't grind or cycle, and often get hemmed at even strength.

Makes sense why they would fade in the playoffs

Someone who doesn't follow the NHL would think that Tampa is a trash team and near the bottom of the league with the comments from their fans. Bad PP, no skill to make plays and deferring to dumping it in, etc. It's so funny to read how critical fans can be of their own team.

Wow....imagine being a cup contender for over a decade, while winning the last 2, currently 4th in the league, and being 7-3-0 in the last 10 games and STILL being salty and complaining that much.

What a spoiled and terrible fan base.

Agreed it is brutal.

Since they robbed us of the Cup in 04:

Flames have made it past the 1st round 1 time

Tampa has won 2 Cups, lost 1 Cup Final, and lost in the conference finals 3x.

I wish it was the other way around

The thing is that Iafrate probably burned that ring of hair off with a blow torch trying to fire up a dart one day. Such a bygone era now.

Whitney doesn't seem bright. They got swept and that was with top 10 goaltending! This year they don't even have that.

Jokes on him because Oilers won't even make the dance either.

Biz is probably very comfortable with that bet.

Flames have lost 3 regulation games in 20 and after the last one somebody wanted to fist fight me for saying Monahan couldn't be cut loose. People are still on the fire Brad bandwagon.

Every fanbase has these people

Did Whitney even look at the standings and the Magic Numbers?

Biz is going to win this bet by forfeit. The only place the Oilers are going to be dancing is out of Roger's place on Garbage Bag day.
