Yeah, I know, bad structure. But it let me set up the joke.

yes speaking of Star Trek: STD, if it's a return to the Alien Sex Planet of the Week format, my hope is that Captain Pike truly lives up to his name. he's got some of the best hair in the entire Alpha quadrant.

They are playing up Pike's age a lot in this series, it's pretty white and grey. I'm guessing this series takes place after The Cage

Picard S2E2.

And I mean that. I dont know if I loved it or hated it.

In the words of Raffi...."What the Hell just happened?"

Part of me thinks something happens in 2024 with the Borg Queen and they all end up creating a kind of Terminator 2 scenario where Borg technology has even more time to evolve.

As did I. This season is pretty great so far IMO.

Overall I think this series has been a wonderfully enjoyable antidote to the garbage that is Discovery. Not to mention the characters on this show are just so much more fun and interesting.

Here is the thing with me. I prefer *most* of the cast of “Discovery” over the new cast brought in for Picard, but these “Picard” stories are better. I kind of wish they could do a few trades - Elnor, Raffi, Rios and Jurati for Saru, Detmer, Kovich, Stamets, and Culber, Linus, and Reno.

I like this, and I have a week spot for the very Gieger design of our surprise guest.

So to re-iterate.

Elnor, Raffi, Rios and Jurati for Saru, chair, shock guest, dude who no longer has a story, and Culber, coffee table , and part time in it for the paycheck person.

Discovery has done such an awful job of character development that I literally have forgotten most of them.

Saru - Really has nothing to do and this romance angle seems to be utterly forced.
Detmer - I'll give credit that they're trying with her. But really they ramped her through instant forgiveness for Michael wrecking her life. To recovering from PTSD in two seconds, to looking dumb with Georgio, to now the Han Solo of the crew.
Kovich - Fine, he's cool
Stamets - Does he really have a story anymore, besides screaming Scottyisms and . . . .
Culber - They're working hard on developing him. After him spending last year just being an annoying doctor.
Linus - I had to look him up, thus the chair. He's like android lady who nobody cared about when she turned rogue and died and then came back as a nice table.
Reno - I don't understand the point of her, I think its a running joke that she's friends with someone, shows up and does some deadpan lines and runs out the door with a pile of cash screaming "Start the Car".

I stopped watching Discovery after the second episode this season. Pulling the plug on watching that show was long overdue.

I've really liked S2E2 of Picard, and I am normally not a fan of mirror episodes. Also, time travel and the borg are overplayed. However, it was an exciting episode. I've learned to really appreciate Q and it looks like there is a more interesting angle going on here.

On a side note, in ST:TOS S2:E26 Assignment Earth, the Enterprise traveled through time to observe 1960's Earth as part of a routine mission. However, they seemed to lose that technology or writers just forgot about it after that episode. All the time travel after that was an accident, alien/future technologies, or just randomly coming up with the idea of slingshotting around the sun on the fly.

Stamets story became - Hey Tal, you're non-binary and I am also part of a different community....so that means I'm your dad.

My favourite part of the STD cast is how, in the one big Owohuso (?) navigator episode where she magically becomes a good MMA fighter, she suddenly has an accent.......then abandons it just as soon as the next episode.

With the Star Trek Picard story line, its definately an alternative time line and not a mirror universe.

But the mirror universe empire literally goes back to the Eugenics Wars and Khan and the other Ubermen. Who had placed in humanity a overwhelming survivor instinct, which lead to a aggessive human first empire seeding the galaxy.
