Who was it who saved the Flames from acquiring this boat anchor?

Hard to say if Holland or Fletcher is more deserving as worst GM of the year. Astounding incompetence. They would have been better off walking away rather than double down on a really bad trade.

If Zadarov continues his strong play into the postseason he's going to get paid. P A I D.

I thought he’d be the Gudbranson reclamation project replacement next year for like 1-1.5 mil

Thought maybe Risto would turn things around with a change of scenery but still not very good it would seem. Still got paid though lol. I wonder how he'd do on a Sutter coached team.
Also, how over rated are Sanheim and Provorov? They were supposed to be stud top pairing Dmen and certainly haven't reached those heights IMO.

Two things.
One, I always liked Ghost. Thought it was insane there wasn't a trade market for him, and they had to pay to dump him. Good for Arizona and good for Ghost for succeeding there.
Two, Nepotism / Old Boys Club. That is the entire explanation for trading for Risto and then signing him. Flyers management is obsessed with the aura of 'Broad Street Bullies'. Le Sigh.

How do you figure nepotism has anything to do with Ristolainen? Who's he related to?

Nepotism can also refer to friends. Bobby Clarke; Holmgren; Ron Hextall are all recent GMs who were former players during the Broad Street Bullies era. The first two still have an advisory position with the team. I'd guess they are the ones who can't let go of the notion of being tough and mean, even if it is sewering the team.

In all seriousness, I do wonder how this affects the market -- for Zadorov, but also Gudbranson. Not to mention Kylington.
Worth noting that Ristoleinen now makes more than every single one of our defencemen.

Crazy to think that Nurse is about to make almost as much as Tanev and Hanafin combined. LOL!
Agreed though, this and Nurse's deal, unfortunately, pushes the price up for Kylly, big Z and Gudbranson.

2nd 2022 (should be fairly high)
2nd 2023 (could be high again)
7th
Hagg
+ the opportunity cost of what they might have recovered by trading Risto at the TDL (say a 3rd), or worse yet will be the opportunity cost of what ARI trades Ghost for next year.
LOL
