Damn that is great, and makes sense. Really helps answer that question of why Luke was hidden there. Almost hidden in plain sight though, and it works.
the other great segment in that book at the end of it was with Bail Organa who knew that Vader was Anakin as well.
In fact there was a chapter where Vader came to Alderaan to go after rogue Jedi and Bail panicked and hoped that Vader and Leia wouldn't be in the same room together.
At the end of the book, Bail is back at Coruscant meeting with the other revel senators, and they're talking about how it was a dark time and all the Jedi were dead. At that moment Vader returned to the Palace to meet Palpatine and walked by Bail, who commented that not all the Jedi were dead.
Dark Lord is such a good book, well written, makes sense and really ties together a New Hope and ROTS.
I've always thought because it was a companion piece to the ROTS novel that it should have remained Canon.
There was another great chapter, early on in the book Vader is very much still Anakin, he's in the world between places and he gets wounded by a Jedi Knight. He returns to Coruscant and literally he and Palpatine have a talk about the cost of what they did. Palpatine scarred, Vader crippled and had lost everything. And Palpatine talked about how they were ultimately winners despite their sacrifices. At the end of it Vader admits that he needs his master . . . for a time.

I honestly can't see Obi-Wan leaving Luke unguarded no matter what. Luke to him was the last hope of the light side of the force. There could be 10,000 Jedi out there screaming for help, and Obi-Wan wouldn't leave Luke to rescue them. At the same time, it would have been simpler for Obi-Wan to raise Luke on his own and train him. But in the book ROTS Yoda forbad him from that, stating that the reliance on Jedi traditions, training Jedi from an early age had really been a part of the reason why the Jedi fell. It was basically left up to the Force and Luke's destiny if he was to become a Jedi.
Its the main reason why Ben dropped him off with the Lars.

Incoming episodes of picnics with the Sandpeople, Bantha rides across the Dune Sea and haggling with Jawas to replace his microwave.
Perhaps Obi-Wan will take up knitting nice blankets out of Bantha wool?
Or take up a hobby of hover-scooter riding?
The possibilities are endless.
I think the Galactic Republic should seriously consider relocating the seat of Government Power from Coruscant to Tattooine.
Obi-Wan using mind tricks on twilik dancers in the Cantina. "You will take off your clothes for old Ben".
I always have this thing in my mind, that Obi-Wan after seeing his best friend falling to the darkside, then having to cut off his limbs and leaving him burnt and suffering on the shore. That his actions helped lead the Galactic Republic to fall. hearing his best friends wife due to her losing her reason to live. Not medical reasons. And seeing his long time love interest slaughtered by Darth Maul would go through a dark period known as "Mean drunken Ben Kenobi, the guy you don't mess with in the bar"

Just Ol' Ben getting hammered at the Cantina on 'Blue Russians.'
They must make some alcoholic beverage out of that Blue Milk.
Playing Mahjongg with the old ladies or Dominos with Ponda Baba.
Doing some contract work for Watto or just getting good and drunk and screwing with the Podracers.
"Whoops....watch out for that floating rock!"

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

In that case, so much for the prospect of Obi Wan doing weekend trips to places that are not sand and spaceports
There’s a few recent rumours around Star Wars fan circles that (thankfully) he will be leaving Tatooine to help deal with an issue regarding Leia. Hopefully we see him off world somewhere - I’m really done with the sand. It gets everywhere.

So has it been redeemed or is Disney tempering expectations better?
I think what has happened is that Disney failed to showcase how interactive the experience was.
The previous promotional videos made it look like a cheesy Star Wars themed West Edmonton Mall hotel instead of the story based adventure it really was. Looks like the character interactions and choice based progression are really the stars of the show.
IMO it is still probably overpriced for what it is, but I am sure a lot of people will have fun with it (especially if they can get over the hole in their wallet).
In the end it will probably still disappoint hard core Star Wars fan as it is sequel based and still has to be appeal to the casual fans.

I watched the second video and I wasn’t sure if the escape-room activities were originally part of Galaxy’s Edge or if it added because of the backlash. The original promotional video definitely didn’t give any indication of being that interactive. For $6000 for a two day experience though, I’d almost expect to be more personal, like to the point where each paying guest had actors and staff catering only to them. Maybe that’s also the case, but it didn’t seem obvious from the video. Like for $6k I am not in it for a group class.
I'm coming at this as someone who understands that even as a Star Wars fan, I am not their 'Target Market.'
To me this all seems like a really crappy vacation and thats before you even get into the, frankly astronomical, cost.
Its just not me.
But this seems like paying a premium for top-shelf props and effects and some discount improv coupled with one of those off-brand 'choose your own adventure' books.

Also, today is Disney's Investors Day, which is usually accompanied by a bunch of announcements and previews. It is expected that the first trailer for Kenobi will be released as part of it.
It starts at 11am MT.
