It seems like especially slim pickings down the middle this year. Travis Boyd and Cody Eakin are among the few guys I see available who have actually been playing C regularly.

For the off-season, it may be tough to find good 3/4/5C's to replace Monahan and Richardson...not many guys expiring off of playoff teams, so it'll likely have to be through trade.
Eakin is another one that I could see Sutter having good use for

The Flames have 4 forwards that have 0.5 points/game or higher (minimum 30GP).

Colorado has 6. St. Louis has 9. Minnesota has 7. Tampa has 6. Toronto has 7. I could go on but you get the point.

Flames have 5. You are missing Toffoli I bet. He’s .77 on the season and he’s PPG since coming here.

Backlund and Coleman are just a hair under at .48 and Monahan just below that at .4.

^ ah yes stupid NHL stats page didn't combine Toffoli's numbers from both teams. Flames have 5.

Other teams I listed have players just a hair under .5 too.

All true. How many teams have 4 players at PPG (I’m counting Toffoli LOL)

Toffoli is not a P/G player over the course of the whole season. Flames have 3 in that department.

Colorado 4, St. Louis 1, Minnesota 2, Tampa 2, Toronto 2.

All we've established here is that the Flames have a dominant top line, something that was already obvious to everyone. We also see that Eatbread and Toffoli are producing nicely, and Backlund is doing an excellent job at shutting down the opposition's top lines.

The point I'm trying to make here though is that the bottom 6 forwards on this team haven't been good enough, and it could become a real problem come playoff time.

They’ve been good enough to help keep the Flames as the top defensive team , top 5 PK team and top 5 SC contender.

They looked fine last game....you remember?

In Colorado? .... who are generally regarded as the top team in the NHL.

I know about Toffoli, but he is PPG as a Flame so that’s all that counts.

Seriously, PPG top line, plus 2 guys in the 70s on the second is pretty good.

Its been a lengthy slide now.

Outside of the one wrister he netted a week ago, he's only been on the negative side of it, or a wallflower.

Would waivers for buyout (knocking off 4M in cap this year) then sending an asset for Jarnkrok make sense to any one else?

Someone should start a gofundme to buy out Monahan if the Flames is too cheap to do it

There is no positive contribution from him….just sad

Same with Lucic

Looch just needs rest.

Monahan might be done though.

Can we afford a -15 center on an overwhelmingly + team when we're trying to make a deep run?

Of course not, the trouble is short of LTIR, there's very little in the way of options.

He's not tradeable as is, and no one is taking on that full salary without a lot of compensation.

If this is the Flames' "all in" year, then... Brad will figure something out I guess.

If Monahan is ineffective or a liability now, imagine as the games get tougher. It's trouble if he can't pick it up.

What happened to Monahan? Why is he so bad now?

Mainly injuries. His biggest asset has been taken from him, it seems.

You mean linemates that complement his playing style? He's playing with Lucic and Lewis this game.

He has been bumped to the 4th line linemates because he failed to produce on the other lines since his decline.

I agree he’s not been given great linemates. But I mean his shot. He looked pretty good in the few games with Mangiapane and Coleman. But I don’t know about his overall fitness - he has really good games and then slides.

Might be time for Monahan to rest. It has been a rough stretch of games. 6 shots in his last 6 games and just nothing good happening for him.
