Makes me think Sportsnet has some kind of corporate line to BJ the Oilers and to market the hell out of McDavid. Why don't they get that the rest of the country can't stand them -- and that McDavid is just a supremely talented, super-selfish bonehead?

I heard the opening part where Hrudey and Ball were talking and Kelly started to wax poetically about McAvi and Rai and I took my headphones off (yes - I yell WAY louder than the TV would be when the Flames score LOL - but it keeps the peace in the house). I *far* prefer to watch the games on "silent" and just absorb the action. Either that or watching on a streaming site where I can get the other feed, and that's fun too.
But anything to avoid Cassie, Kelly or DeBrusk on an Oilers game.

His replay of the second Toffoli goal was so blasé despite it being a complete dismantling of the Oilers. Maybe someone slapped him in the face before the start of the third.

That was a completely putrid effort again, when they were needed most given all the injuries.
The "how much more can McDavid take before he wants out" narrative is no longer accurate. McDavid is showing he is not a alpha superstar that can carry a team.

McDavid looks like he's done in Edmonton IMO.
Players talk...and there is no doubt in my mind that Eichel has been telling McDavid how much better life in Vegas is than his life in Buffalo was.
I could see McDavid looking at asking for his way out as soon as this offseason.

I think a few things are in play. I think Hrudey wants an exciting game so in part he's pumping up the opposition even when they underperform to make it seem like there's a legit contest. There's also the SN/CBC ingrained desire for marquee players. Hrudey also has his own personal biases. you can tell when he likes a player or feels like they need pumping up - he draws attention to good, but not mindblowing, plays by players he wants to support (eg, Monahan's stick lift - a good play but he called it like it was genius).
I'll say this - it's not as nauseating as the Edmonton crew (though if you read HF Oil, Hrudey is a total homer).

Mike Vernon caused Patrick Roy to walk out on Montreal.
They met before the game and Vernon told Roy how much less stress he feels after he was traded. Mike telling Roy that put the notion in Roy's head that he needed a change.
So, yes. Players talk and hearing first hand from other players how good things got after going to a new place is enough to make a player decide to enact a change.
McDavid can request a trade. If he is smart he'll wait until July 1 (or whatever Free agency date is this year) when his NMC kicks in so that he can control where he is traded.

Can you use your NMC to block the team that you are already on?

I didn’t watch this game nor listen. I had a feeling the flames would win. Much to my delight they indeed won. And who did the secondary lifting? Tof #### face.
That ATL was awesome. Thanks Gaskal. I’m outta thanks after splurging in the Colorado PGT.
But the ATL was hilarious for this one. I can’t believe how bad the oilers have been. They have no heart at all. While we have one of the most respected hearts in the league with sutter. Thank goodness they stayed away from him and hired tippet. Their team is in trouble. They look like we did last year before sutter got here. They look like they are sulking and physically dejected from the accounts I have been gleaning. This couldn’t happen to a better bunch of fans. They are so smug up there with their shiny toy. It looks like some of that lustre is waning. While the flames are getting hotter and hotter.
Wow so happy with that toffoli acquisition and the other additions that have changed how the group reacts collectively after a bad goal. Coleman I think is a big part of it. This team keeps impressing me.
Keep up the good flames talk to those who are the brighter lights of this communal spectrum.

The dream scenario is him getting traded to NYR for Fox.
1) He rejects Edmonton
2) Edmonton feels shame
3) Fox forced to play in Edmonton
4) Edm is still No Good
Let's start pumping this out as a trade proposal as much as possible so that the idea takes root and becomes reality.

If you're looking at Sportsclubstats, they haven't updated their odds yet after Monday's games. So it's actually even lower.
