Fair but I don’t know how any country can recover their reputation with Putin in the near future (say, 5 years) after Putin did this. It’s almost like he has to go down swinging now. But in the meantime countries are imposing sanctions left right and centre and his country is suffering. What’s his end game here? Very odd situation.

I'm sure China is only worried now because they've realized that Russians won't be able to buy anything from them because the Ruble is worthless.

Their intentions are meaningless to me. Whatever ends this the fastest.

Russian army attacking a nuclear power plant is on the same level as using a chemical or nuclear weapon as far as I’m concerned.
Absolutely atrocious.

What? Pretty sure in this very thread there was concern about the NPPs security. More than likely Russia doesn’t want to start a nuclear meltdown, but was there any doubt that bald is Ukraine’s power supply would be easy targets.
Bombing civilians? Yeah, that doesn’t surprise literally anyone.

I heard on the radio that although the plant buildings that are currently on fire are not actively operating, there is a full amount of nuclear fuel on site in each reactor to make them operational. Although the worst case scenario would be the loss of the working reactor, it's no small thing if they can't put our the fire in the other buildings.
Also, that the Russians are firing on firefighters if they try to reach the fire.

Good chance for China to pretend to be the good guys without much risk.

China has to recognize that - wherever things go from here - an iron curtain is going up around Russia. They don't want to be on the wrong side of that curtain. Not if they want to continue making progress like they have over the past 3 decades.

Russia is not important to China. Russia is a country of 140 million people with a mediocre economy.
China has far larger customers in America, the EU, South America, Africa and not to mention their own neighbors in Asia.
If Russia wants to be a recluse, Chinas heart won’t be broken.
