Do Dube and Ruzicka draw back in? The fourth line was a weak point last game.

At the time they were a non PO team. They've come up a lot, especially on the back of their goalie.

It's annoying, because in the Kipper days he had to play if the Flames wanted to win since he never had a decent backup to work with. There's no excuse now though, Vladar is an awesome backup and I'd take him over many starting goaltenders in the league. There's no need for Sutter to be riding Markstrom so hard

Rangers are that one team at the top that have underlying numbers that suggest they shouldn't be.
See a handful out of place every season.
#2 in save percentage is a big part of it, decent in finishing.
But something like 24th spot in xGF%. Getting out played often and winning their share of games anyway.

Rangers are only a top 10 playoff team points wise on the back of one Igor Shesterkin and his ridiculous GSAA rating. Without him they are fighting for a PO spot with a good number of mediocre teams.

Shesterkin has literally saved a goal per game according to his GSAA.
Guy is having one of the best goaltending seasons ever. At the very least a top 5-10 goaltending season. Not even kidding. And it's coming in the NHL's highest scoring season in 16 years.
Take away his two games against the Flames, and his numbers out almost out of this world.
Absolute stud.

Birthday today so hoping for a 9-3 win against Montreal! It may actually happen given how well they’ve been playing!

The Flames played the Rangers on Oct. 25 and Nov. 6.
The Rangers started those two days 3rd in the NHL and 4th in the NHL, respectively.
Calgary gave them 2/3 regulation losses they had at that time.

Really! I thought at the time they were just nibbling from the outside. Maybe it's the Isles I was thinking of (who've gotten worse since).

The Canadian record is kind of disjointed schedule-wise. I don't draw much from it.

Agreed, but the NY Rangers have the fifth best winning percentage in the East. They are absolutely not a bad team.

I concede that point, but not the overall one - that the Flames are not iffy against bad teams. And every top team has a couple bad games against bottom feeders in the their record.
In my defence the Rangers sure looked bad. And it appears their record is largely dependent on goaltending.

After the 2 Flames games, the Rangers were 12-6-3. Excluding the Flames games, they were 12-4-3
That is a .710 winning percentage

Darryl should have told the reporters that Montreal was the best team in Canada. They were fishing for compliments about their terrible team.

Yes, I've conceded the inclusion of the Rangers was wrong. Also irrelevant to the point, though.
