Future Considerations will win the Calder, the Art Ross, the Jack Adams, the Richard and the Vezina this year. Book it.

I gotta say, considering the events of the last few years, 'Future Considerations' ain't all its cracked up to be.

Parsons is almost assuredly gone after this year. He's not in their plans.

Maybe the scouting staff just liked McNiven and he suddenly became available?

That's the simplest and most logical solution.
Get out of here with your logical solutions. Only baseless speculation and/or over reactions.

You rang?
Obviously this shows that management has no confidence at all in any of the Flames' goalies. They're going to flush them all off of the roster and McNiven will start every game for the rest of the season.
Man, this team sucks!

IIRC He was one of the last Flames qualified last season and many questioned if he would be. After the year of Covid, no way he's coming back. So I agree 100 percent.

He was actually the first one qualified last year because it was required for the expansion draft exposure rules.

Thanks, I wasn't sure but I still remember people questioning if he would be from his injury history and lack of progression. The last season (or two) definitely didn't help with the latter.

Thinking of the Moneyball clip when they get Ricardo Rincon:
BT and CC as Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. Not quite the same, nor is the gravity of the transaction, but...
”Hey Kent, we don't want McNiven playing against us tomorrow, tell him to change his clothes and send him over"

Certainly more faith in Habs management then most.

Calgary once traded minor league depth goalie Tom McCollum to Detroit for a conditional 7th pick in the 2018 draft, which as far as I can tell was never completed.
(McCollum was the acquired to fill the goalie slot in the Vegas Expansion draft, if I recall correctly).
Montreal may have just wanted to shed a contract and the Flames did them a solid?

I guess my sarcasm wasn’t sufficiently evident. Parsons is in their plans about as much as I am in Rachel Weisz’s plans for the weekend.

Kiprusoff was #3 in SJ at the time of the trade, and had already won a NHL playoff series.

Kiprusoff cost a second round pick too, a fairly hefty price at the time (although obviously not in retrospect).

Yeah this has Sigalet/Labarbera written all over it.
Likely a guy they know who they believe they can coach up.
