Seems like the Wild are kind of a poor man's version of the Flames. They play a similar style but the forward depth and goaltending isn't quite as good. It's hard to believe they are 4th in goals for, considering Zuccarello is their 2nd best forward. Seems like they may have overachieved somewhat.

Man, Calgary's 4th line really could not keep up. Obviously not having the last change put them up against the Wild's 1st line way too much but I wonder if maybe Dube down there might help. Something really. Anything. It was really noticeable.

4th line was a positive difference maker in the previous game; but I agree, they looked a little scary out there last night. Ritchie is all kinds of useless unless he's forechecking -- dumb as a brick unless he's going in a straight line. Richardson has good hockey sense but the years have caught up with him and he really shouldn't play consecutive games anymore. Lewis remains effective. Bring Dube and Ruzicka back and see if they're learned their lesson.

Wow. That is some legendary hyperbole.

I was surprised the Wild coach kept harping on how embarrassed the Wild were last game, essentially turning this game into something very important for them. They played pretty well - they were probably better 5 on 5. But the final score of a 5-1 loss after you call out your team doesn't look great.

Is he the answer to shutting down Mackinnon? Avs defence has only gotten better since that series,. Makar and Toews are elite now, and they no longer have the massive liability that was Tyson Barrie.

Obviously the flames have gotten way better too, but I have a hard time seeing us as favourites against Colorado, ehich is perfect for Darryl

It was a beat-down, without question. And I thought Mike Smith was very good in about half the games. But this was not some unprecedented, lop-sided uncontested series the likes of which no one has seen for decades. 35 years?! Come on. It was arguably no different than the Montreal v. Winnipeg series last year, and not nearly as decisive as the Stanley Cup Finals. And while it was over in four straight games, the Flames did win one in fairly impressive fashion, and two games were very evenly played, but lost in OT. I also thought that that series was ultimately lost by a bad goalie performance in Game 5.

I sure hope the players are not so wounded by this as you appear to be.

That would just make it extra sweeter to get revenge on the Divealanche.

We should worry about round one and two first before round 3 with the Avs that they may not make either.

Because they’re hockey’s version of the Showtime Lakers.

True, I have a couple teams ahead of them on my playoff sweep wish list though. Edmonton, Vegas and Tampa come to mind.

When you look it up ...

In all situations Mike Smith gave up more goals than expected in games 2, 3, and 5.

Won game 1, and almost stole game 4.

Only 8 players, and no coaches remain from that series. Colorado is a good team, and the Flames should worry about them, but there really isn't a link to the '19 series.

Mike Smith's playoffs in Calgary are greatly exaggerated
