To me, I don't see Sutter being sexist there, I see him agree with the words she used. I think if the question was worded as a question needing an answer rather than her fill-in-the-blank style of question where she throws a handful of adjectives out, it would have been handled as such.

"What made Brad Richardson's line so effective?" is a different question than
"I thought Brad Richardson's line was really effective, heavy and tough to play against, they forechecked like crazy and really had a lot of offensive zone time... can you talk about that?"

I think the second question would get the "Uh, yeah. That's what they did." sort of answer.

For Coleman the question praises him as a person...but then also asks a specific question in terms of "How has Blake fit in this year?"

It's just about making sure you're asking Sutter a specific question, he doesn't really answer the open ended, non-specific questions from anybody.

I also am not sure Sutter has really been happy with Richardson's play this year...there is a reason he's only played 25 games, and sat for 10+ straight games. So don't think he was going to provide a glowing review.

I’d have to listen again to the act wording but I just heard the the Coleman question was “you want good guys and he’s a good guy, right”, and the Richardson one was “you like guys who work hard and are ready and he is one, right”?

I just thought the “you said it” and then absolute silence was a bit harsh.

Love how everything has to be sexist these days depending on who is asking the question. There are plenty of female reporters that ask fine questions, but she is brutal. Anyone who spends any amount of time listening to Sutter's press conferences knows she asks brutal questions, stumbles through them, and plainly makes herself a target for Sutter's jabs based on her brutal Qs. Nothing to do with sex, everything to do with preparation, knowledge, and skill that she lacks.

Would like to see Johnny return to his multipoint scoring. He’s been quiet lately. This stretch of 8 games is going to tell us a lot about where this team. 5-3 would be a good result IMO.

I know...but my wife being busy tonight is why I can watch it live. So I cant dodge the game that way, trust me, I have been doing that.

For the good of the Franchise.

Maybe I'll do the team a solid and watch Jeopardy instead of the first period. Maybe if they build a lead it'll be okay...

I don't listen to all of these but Sutter absolutely has an ear for the interviewer answering their own questions and will often disagree. It's not good form at all for the one asking the questions, whether you're a journalist or just someone who needs to gather information for a living.

Those suggesting sexism on Sutter's part are out of line. How about these folks show some good interrogatory skills?

Again, I said it was just a guess based on his treatment of other reporters doing exactly the same thing. Not sure why it’s such a trigger for people.

And actually leading questions are terrific to get info. It’s how you cross examine someone.

Leading questions are absolutely useless for getting information. You only ask them when you already know the answer and are fishing for confirmation.

Dealing with presumably hostile witnesses in a courtroom does not call for the same techniques as conducting media interviews with people you have to work with regularly.
