From what I understand, there is a translation error for the description of this convoy. It's not 40 miles long, it's four miles long, but instead forty miles from Kyiv.
Just like this video below - they're mostly saying 'go home' (but a few are aren't, lol).

I realize this is small change as far as sanctions go, but I love the piling on where ever possible.

The Slovak air force only has 11 Mig 29's and that represents their entire fighter contingent.
Poland has replaced their Mig-29's with F-16's and future F-35's. So I would assume that the Mig 29's which were all retired by this year were sitting in a warehouse somewhere so that might make sense. But that number seems high.
It feels like this person went on wiki and googled Mig-29's and donated the entire airforce inventory of Eastern Bloc airforces.
Hard to believe.
Beyond that Ukraine started with 37 Mig 29's 8 of which are trainers. So this guys numbers make 0 sense on the donation side as Ukraine wouldn't have the ground crews or men to man them.

Talked to my dad this evening who is contact with uncle and grandpa in Kharkiv... they have no water or food, tanks outside their apartment so its a guerilla ware fare... watching my dad cry and be hopeless eye opening to say the least.
My hatred towards Russian's and to pick up arms to go fight is unwavering at this point. I am a Latvian born and raised guy so it would be easy for me to make it to the border and at this point I'm tempted, my hatred grows by the second watching what is happening to my family. #### putin.

There's a lot of doom and gloom on Twitter about the likelihood of things escalating and Putin's lack of hesitation with using inhumane weapons at his disposal.
Don't know what or how much to buy into. Also don't want to be ignorant. But maybe thats the best thing to do right now.

I'm going to be a bit positive here, Putin has screwed himself and at this point he knows it, I think he and his Generals realise leveling Kyiv ala Grozny would cause a massive backlash both in Russia and in the army itself, it's the historic birthplace of the Russian nation and there's a reason they had to lie to the troops to get them to invade, they equally know there's a limit to what they can ask the troops to do to people the troops themselves see as fellow Russians and they are at constant risk of a mutiny breaking out at some level.
Added to this Russia is getting poorer and more isolated by the day, the army is taking unacceptable casualties for what is essentially a war by deception on both its troops and civilian population, a civilian population who are about to feel the full effects of a fiscal and economic displacement that comes on top of Covid.
I suspect Putin knows that the risk of being overthrown as a result of the war grinding on will very quickly become greater than the risk of backing down, he's got a week or two at most to try and find some face saving way out of this but I have no doubt that is what he is looking for right now

Unfortunately fear of dying and attacks committed by civilians has very likely already dispelled any hesitation to use their weapons from most Russian troops and officers.
Nobody wants to die, even if they know they're on the wrong side.

Oh I dont doubt there will be far to much death but every Russian has grown up being taught at school and watching films about the great patriotic war, they are all utterly aware that Kharkov (to use the Russian spelling) was blown apart by Nazis artillery, it is likely the most fought over city in the war, it cannot escape them that they are about to play the role of the Nazis in this drama, that will not be easy to stomach, heck I play world of tanks, a online tank combat game that is developed in Belorussia one of the few 'real' maps that the game is played on is Kharkov, the city is, like Stalingrad almost holy ground to the Russian Army in particular

I've been writing back and forth with my friend in Kyiv this evening. She lives maybe 15 km from where this big convoy is, and had not heard about it until now. It sounds like the Ukrainian military is not making efforts to advertise its existence, even though they obviously know about it since it's the worst-kept secret in the history of military invasions, apparently.
I don't know what to tell her to do, so have basically encouraged her to buy food, water, and power supplies if there's anywhere nearby for that, and to think of the nearest place with a deep underground parking garage or other reinforced concrete structure should her family need to leave their home for better shelter.
My biggest fear is that there's no face-saving for Putin now. No way for him to exit this situation gracefully, or to declare a victory, so he's just going to double-down and shell Kharkiv and Kyiv into submission. I hope this doesn't prove true, but have no faith this will be negotiated away in the next few days. I really think we haven't seen anything like the worst of it yet.

If there was a chance for Russian troops refusing to follow orders in sny significant numbers, we'd have seen it by now.
In this re-enactment, Russian troops very likely see themselves as the Russians.

To everyone on here with friends and family in Ukraine, God bless and protect them all. No one deserves this. It's little comfort but all of their stories are galvanising the rest of the world against the Russian government.
