My parents grew up during World War II and only recently have they started to become kind of OK with Germans of any sort, there was a lot of (understandable) distrust of both sides of Germany from their generation.

Hmmm....while true. Do we really want Germany to be the dominant economic and military power in Europe?

I think you guys underestimate in which dire state the German Bundeswehr really is. This is not a military force that would scare anyone, even if they invest heavily. Frankly, money hasn't even been the problem, they've just spent it poorly.

It appears the US and Canada are letting Europe lead on sanctions. It makes sense as they are the ones you are likely to have to deal with Russia if something crosses a red line with them.

How much Russian energy does Canada import, and what's the alternative source? I know the USA gets something like 7-8% from them but I have no idea how much we get.
Regardless, even if both Canada and the USA do this, that's not that harmful, we're not the big fish. Europe is where the money's made.

Hate was massive great documentary on this called After Hitler, if you were German you were a huge target for rape, murder and loss of property.

I think this may be the biggest ' White Collar War' we have ever seen. The west cant fight with boots on the ground but we can wage a White Collar war.

Everyone thought he was a genius working up divisions in Europe and NATO (and maybe he was) but he's brought them back together in 4 days.

But the EU has already blocked Swift for some Russian banks, which will essentially strangle oil supply from Russia. The EU has kind of already crossed the red line?

Eventually people were able to distinguish between Germans and Nazis, focusing more hatred on the latter. Today the Russians causing trouble are indistinguishable from other Russians. The perpetrators must be ostracized by Russians the same way Germans ousted the Nazis in order to get past this.

Yikes. Let me know how that goes for ya. Anti-Semitism still shows up a lot more often around the globe than anti-Russian sentiment.
