This is why “stats” can’t be everything. Sutter was behind both of those signings and he understands how hockey games are won. Especially games that matter.

I'm not even sure what the hell is going on anymore.

Not a fan of Ritchie at all, not happy to see him in the lineup, he goes out there in the first and plays probably his best period of the year. The 4th line was excellent, great work ethic.

The 3rd D pairing scared me every time they were on the ice to start the season, now I love them and not only can they bang and crash but they're helping out offensively too.

It's weird but I'm loving it so far tonight.

Really good checking by the Flames all over the ice. Wild just aren't getting set up at all.

Zad is terrifying out there, so big and not afraid to carry the puck. He is gonna get frickin paid next year.

I'm going to be really bummed when Zadorov leaves after the season. I've really come to love him.
I really didn't foresee that when we grabbed him.

Well at least one smart one. The guy who started Skip is from Winnipeg and sold out for a few million.

I was skeptical too, but looking back now, clearly they were the type of big mean defensemen that Sutter knew he could work well with.

In terms of actual shots, yeah I’d believe it. A couple other pucks trickled on net that got credited as shots.

So far ahead, in fact, that I listen to the Fan960 when I attend live games because they’re a few seconds ahead of the live play too.

Great period. Obviously dominated the play, but it's really important for the Flames to cash in on these strong first periods, and get a decent lead. Especially against good teams when you anticipate the game flow will even out.

Recent blowout aside, most of the Flames losses this year have been in a game where they dominated the play in the first or second period, but couldn't cash in. When the momentum swung, the other team took advantage and get the W.

I'm getting a serious '04 'Dors vibe from those two.

There’s a lot of hockey left. He may prove to be so valuable in the playoffs that they prioritize keeping him, and Tre somehow finds a way.

The 2 consecutive shifts by Gudbranson/Zadorov were so much fun to watch.

The were rock solid defensively and each crushed Boldy on their first shift, then hop on to have a beauty goal.
