Aaaand they made it legal to to confiscate money from dumbasses who were breaking the law for weeks on end, which is exactly what they should do, so that it becomes easier to stop them from breaking the law.

Speaking of ill-thought-out attempts......

As it should be
Then why are the additional provisions in the Emergencies Act required, and why does the government wish to make them permanent?

It has, in fact, never been legal to take money from ANYONE without due process of law. Until now. No court order needed, no warrant, not even reasonable suspicion… just poof! it's gone. You have no problem with that? Then I hope your money goes next.

By ‘mandates’ you mean ‘banished from your occupation and have your property confiscated without any defence in court’?

And by ‘vaccine’ you mean ‘experimental mRNA therapy, which does not work in the same way as vaccines, and which was approved on an emergency basis without the normal testing required for new drugs’?

Gee, I can't imagine why anybody would be uncomfortable with those things.

90+% of normal people have no problem with it.

Just the whiny minority with their tinfoil hats on.

You didn’t have to take mRNA vaccines if you didn’t want to and you can still be considered fully vaccinated. Just get AstraZeneca or J&J. But your use of “experimental” is not what scientists consider experimental.

Mandates meany you had to satisfy a condition for employment, yes. You can be banished from several occupations for not having the right government imposed requirements - it’s not an actual issue. And here was no confiscation of property. There was attachment, which is not uncommon.

I know you think Canadians hate freedom, love being ordered around by the government, and 90%+ think Justin Trudeau is a wonderful leader. Doesn't make it so.

I've dealt with enough petty bureaucrats in this country who have told me I have no rights. Not that I didn't have the right to do the particular thing I was asking for permission to do: NO RIGHTS, PERIOD. It was their position that they could do anything they wanted to me, because I had no human rights at all. Back in the day, such people actually prevented me from getting the high-school education that was supposedly my right to receive; it took me years to find a workaround so I could proceed to the point of getting a real education.

There are plenty of people in this country who would love to be tyrants given the chance. Those who don't face this fact are fools. I'm not sure whether you're the former or the latter, but you seem to have foreclosed any other option.

My use of ‘experimental’ is what the health-care system considers experimental. All new drugs are experimental until granted approval – and key steps in the approval process were deliberately skipped in order to rush these drugs to market.

Incidentally, you cannot simply choose to get AstraZeneca or J&J. When I signed up for vaccination, I had to take whichever vaccine was available at one of the very limited number of pharmacies where I could get an appointment. At that time, J&J had not even been approved in Canada. At no time was it possible for me to take anything BUT an mRNA injection.

I'm double-vaccinated and boostered myself. But I don't blame anyone who chose differently, and I don't believe it should be made compulsory. Above all, I do not believe people should be deprived of their livelihood without due process – EVER – for any reason, let alone for refusing to get a shot.

Apparently this makes me a tinfoil-hat-wearing lunatic. God, I hate Canadians sometimes.

It's an actual issue when the government suddenly imposes new requirements that have absolutely nothing to do with fitness to perform the job.

That's not what numerous news reports are saying.

Back on topic, I feel like Zadorov will be a cap casualty for sure.
Hope Mackey is paying attention to how the big Russian plays Sutter's system.

I would love to see the Flames extend him, but I just don't see how it's possible with their other contract requirements

Yeah, I like Mackey and I think he probably becomes an NHLer.

But the Flames have guys like Mackey. As Sutter said, their D was butter-soft and they needed to change that. Zadorov changes that. Mackey doesn't.

(nothing against Mackey)

Awwww poor baby.

Nice straw man argument.

Me saying 90%+ of CDNs being fine taking a perfectly safe vaccine is not me saying 90+% of CDN's love Trudeau.

I personally hate Trudeau, I think he's a piece of human garbage, but when it comes to the idiots that blocked critical border crossings and stormed/occupied a city illegally for almost a month, he 100% did the right thing.

This isn't the place for this though, so it will be my last off topic post in here.

Apologies to blender and others for having to read this crap in FOI.

Yeah, Treliving is in for one hell of a tough off season.

As if getting our two best wingers signed long term wasn't a hard enough task, especially since they are both Americans, but they both decide to have career seasons in their contract years. Then RFA Kylington decides to break out, and RFA Mangiapane also has a break out season.

Good problems to have I know, but as if that wasn't enough, he is somehow going to have to replace the Zadorov/Gudbranson bottom pairing at a fraction of the cost. Size, toughness, meanness and tons of experience at the NHL level. Pretty much an impossible task.

True, but he is pretty big though, no? Can he play a big physical game and add some speed and talent?

I actually don't know, but it seems plausible. We are still talking about a 5/6 dean here right? The bar isn't too high.
