I am still absolutely stunned at how little support a major European country from this level of attack is getting from the western world. Stunned. I totally understand the issue of putting boots on the ground and having them killed in someone else's war doesn't sit well. with many western countries.
I go back to some previous comments, the world should have been able to supply an insane level of weapons to the Ukrainian forces to deal with this as best as possible. They should be providing as much Cyber attack support as they can and assisting with the fight back and we should also be providing world class intelligence to the forces on the ground. Useless from virtually every single NATO and G8 leaders. When we are approaching the level where female business and political leaders are trading in suits for gun's, the entire approach is an epic failure.
This is going to escalate from this point on and all we are going to do is having more useless elite's in suits and fancy lunches discuss diplomacy meanwhile people are going to be cleaned out.
It's situations like this that really makes me question the power brokers of the world if anything that we actually discuss daily like human rights, free and fair elections, democracy, climate change, world hunger, refugee rights or whatever actually has an ounce of legitimacy.
In some ways, it's almost like we live the worlds biggest lie. It's actually crazy to me what I am witnessing.

Yup.
I'm not directly in favor of putting boots on the ground, but Russia should be completely cut off from the rest of the world in every way possible.
Cyber attacks, financial assets frozen....everything Russian owned that is not in Russia should be seized.
Send home the oligarchs children.
Ban the despots from coming to the West.
Crazy that we're not there.

If I was Ukrainian and trying to decide whether to flee or fight, watching the president of my country take up arms and fight alongside his troops would probably get me to choose the latter. Strong leadership is so important in times of war, and Zelenskyy has that in ####ing spades compared to Putin the coward

I don't think there would be a shortage of buyers, but it should be seized as well. Can't believe it hasn't as it would be a symbolic kick in the ass to Putin and his cronies.

Just as an aside, and this is not a criticism as naturally people get more concerned when something "hits home", but I hope some understand now just how much the Iraq war affected the people of the region. War is no joke, and look at the images from Ukraine and the bombing in Iraq was 1000x more intense.

I just hope Zelesnkyy keeps himself safe. He's got balls of steel, but losing him would be a major blow considering so much over the fight has gone in Ukraine's favor to date vs expectations and those successes breed more success.
Just given the number of undercover Russians that have already been caught and executed in Kyiv, you can only imagine how many are still cruising around undetected.

Civilian 1: ...You're back, I've come over. (The civilian asked the soldier something, it is not clear).
Russian Soldier 1: No.
Woman: Oh god.
Russian Soldier 1: We are holding position.
Civilian 1: How many people were there?
Russian soldier 1: There is one Company (military unit). Only four Company (military unit). We have more positions there (Shows with his hand) There, there, there.
Civilian 1: Is there anything along the Keremey village? Keremey, there is a brick factory.
Russian Soldier 1: I don't know, there aren't any of us there.
Civilian 1: So guys, I'm seriously telling you: If you are attacked and you will not cope with the attack, drop your weapons on the spot, take off your protection, helmets and surrender with your hands up. I have a loaded rifle, if someone resists, I don't care (####) I'm responsible for my words.
Russian soldier 1: Clearly (nods).
Civilian 1: You surrender, I'm locking you up in a warehouse. Ukrainian troops arrive and we hand you over to them. If you want to live. If not, it's your choice. I will shoot you from here. All clear?
Russian Soldier 1: Yes. (nods).
Civilian 1: Agreed.
Russian soldier: As I understand it, if our guys come, we will go out to them.
Civilian 1: Everything. We will not touch anyone, I do not need it. Do you think I enjoy running to the basement every five minutes? And wait until the bomb arrives? Are you on the defensive? Good! But if you shoot, I will protect my family.
Russian Soldier 1: Okay, okay.
Civilian 1: I won't attack your armored vehicle with a pitchfork.
Civil 2: We are all human and you understand that we also have relatives in Russia.
Russian soldier 1: I also have relatives in Ukraine.
Civilian 2: We are shocked (####ed) by what is happening. You are on military equipment and spoil the psyche of our children. Children are afraid.
Russian Soldier 1: I understand.
Civilian 1: I won't attack your armored vehicle with a pitchfork. If you attack...
Civilian 2: We're watching everything that's going on and we'll be in the yard. If there is horror (####), we told you what to do to save your lives. We offer you surrender. We will not torture or kill you. Nobody will kill you in the yard. I want everything to be like before. We lived well, you lived well, it was calm.
(The soldier turned to his comrades)
Russian Soldier 2: We're leaving.

So far evening has been quiet. Few more hours until we're into the usual attack period though (3-5am local)

What I am concerned with is the after effects. Once the murdering of the innocent people starts after this weekend in essences finishes off the country, the lecturing is going to start.
Normal, working people are going to be lectured about be tolerant of the now refugee's that are going to be pouring in from everywhere, we are going to be told that hate crimes against Russian's living abroad and in our communities won't be tolerated. It's going to be a hundreds of billions of dollars sent to help rebuild or assist with this.
We are going to eat the ****, while being told this and that matters when in reality we had a chance to reduce the risk or dramatically change the outcome from the start.
I can just wait until these global leaders start with all this nonsense.
