The game has changed ALLOT and Avery isnt going to make any impact .
In fact I'm sure given his reputation someone will be gunning to knock him the F out ....I would in a heartbeat . He'd be a the tracks and my locomotive would run him over and it would remind allot of people of Reghers tunnel of death that Hemsky used to skate into to die.

This isn't even a nice story line . Guy is a pure and total tool D BAG .

The other thing about comebacks is that guys who tried generally retired when they still were pretty good (or in Theo’s case, when they were other circumstances). Avery had 15 games in his last NHL season. 3 assists, 21 PM. And in the AHL that year he had 3 points in 7 games, with 39 pm. He was bad.

Iggy would have a much better chance at a comeback.

Fleury looked small and slow. Bad combo. Sutter told him he’d need to take a top 6 role to make the team. After he was cut, Darryl talked about it. He wasn’t able to keep up. It wasn’t his fault (and yeah, it was his best ever fitness testing), the legs just eventually go. Even the media guys were saying prior to being cut that he would have to do a lot of work in the AHL on his footspeed.

To quote Darryl at the time “Honor the past. Don’t live in it.”

Pretty sure he's just at that point where he's bitter that his 15 minutes are up and we wants attention.

This is like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

He started a podcast about 8 months or so back, and so I expect this is what he’s trying to sell.

This is so confusing to me.... Avery has admitted on other pods that he hasn't touched his skates since leaving hockey basically saying that he has zero love for the game... so why the heck is he going back?

Yea... I guess maybe he's trying to get another movie gig and needs more exposure and his Cameo money is running out.

He scored points in the easiest preseason games as well. Sutter made his call pretty easily.

Freddie S was a decent defensive player who had 6 seasons before that year and one after. Mayers was a 10 year vet, but in any event was in Toronto at the time. He came in the Phaneuf trade (and Freddie S went).

Opening day the roster had, IIRC, Iggy, Bourque, Glencross, Dawes, Nystrom, Boyd, Moss, Prust, McGrattan and Freddie on wing. Theo wasn’t better than any of those guys.
I thought he finished near the top of fitness testing that year.

All I know is that he was absolutely gassed every time he got to the bench.

I was listening to 630 ched on the way to work yesterday - it's a long drive.
They had George Laraque on.

Apparently he has a grudge to settle with Avery, and tweeted out asking if any ECHL team would be willing to take him on for a game. Alleged racial slur.

He says the Florida Everblades have obliged for the game March 12, and if they are serious , so is he.

Laraque is serious and has talked with a team for a possible signing.

On one hand, this would be straight-up assault. But on the other, I would SO pay to see Laraque squash Avery like a bug!
