He's likely getting between 4-5 on a 3+ year contract if I had to guess which definitely won't fit with the Flames budget. Hopefully he is a big part of a long playoff run though.

yeah, someone will throw a 4x4 type of contract at him for sure. Flames will re-sign Kylington obviously and will then just have to find cheaper options for the third pairing.

Yeah hopefully Valimaki and Mackey can step up into the mix next year. But it wouldn't surprise me if they sign one or two cheap veteran D.

yeah those two will have a golden opportunity to step up and become regulars. Maybe they should ask Oliver K. for advice this offseason on how to do it
not counting out Kinnvall either. Just has to stay healthy ...

Mackey is an NHL defenseman for sure. I think Val will be a trade chip, either at the deadline, or in the summer….

Really? Four years is a bit of a commitment to a bottom pairing defenseman. All teams (maybe not the Oilers) scout and likely realize that he's somewhat limited in upside and has to be deployed strategically. He's not a guy I would sign to four years based on the fact that any decline could render him as a part time player.

I would have agreed with you before this year, but he ‘s been playing quite well this season
If he has a good playoff, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone plugged their nose and give him 4 years. He’s still on the right side of 30.

Remember Darryl Sutter doesn't come with him.

I wonder if he and the Flames would do a 4 year $10M contract. A bit much for his role but at the same time, a replacement won't be as good and the Flames have some good contracts on D to make up for it.

yeah going over UFA contracts over the past couple of years, my estimation was probably a bit too high. I guess it depends on whether there's teams out there who think he can log #4 minutes on a consistent basis.

Flames likely would. I doubt he would, I expect he can do better.

In the past, I've known people who escaped from Communist Hungary during or right after the 1956 uprising and eventually found their way to Canada. (My father worked for one of them for many years.) The stories are harrowing in the extreme.
It takes a lot of guts for a Russian to say what Zadorov is saying right now. I salute him. I hope we may never have to face such dangers in Canada.

In Canada, our fascist government makes us wear masks and punishes us with mandates if we won't get a......*gulp*.....vaccine. I know, it's hard to even type it out.
And when we get all upset about it, have a hissy fit, form a mob, blockade critical infrastructure, infest a city and terrorize it's citizens for weeks on end......they will send in the police to force us out and give us tickets. Ohhhhh the horrrorrrrr....

I don’t know that any other team will go longer than 2 years. What’s better - guaranteed $10M for 4 years or guaranteed $6.5M for 2 and then who knows?

Aaaand… then they make it legal to confiscate money from people who disagree with them, and threaten to make that provision permanent.
We're not as far from Russia as you think. But your ill-thought-out attempt at political smears is noted.

It's always been legal to take money from people breaking the law and raising money to break the law
As it should be
Fly a flag that says #### Putin in Russia and see if they politely ask you to leave for 3 weeks
