I preordered it off Futureshop.ca earlier this week, and am expecting it early next week. Looking forward to it.

TurnedTheCorner, you may want to try the Wi-Fi USB connector, I know I have seen them at Wal-Mart, but that might work better than your router. Also is your Wii more than 30 feet from your wireless gateway?

Thanks for the info, I got one of these gateways from Telus a few weeks ago and will try to get it up and running on the weekend. This info should prove invaluable. Cheers!

Guy at work got a Wii from EB games Chinook this morning, he lined up and got one of three available.
Some jerk tried to take his place in line when he went to the bathroom, even though all the other people in line agreed to hold his place and everyone was telling the guy he was wrong. Guess he was a real moron about it too.

This may end up saving you time as well; when I was first trying it out I was having problems with the 2Wire gateway's built in firewall, as it kept bumping my Wii off the connection. I ended up turning off the built-in firewall (as my computer has 2 software firewalls already), and stopped my firewall from broadcasting its "name". Though some may advise against turning off the gateway firewall, the fact that I hacve 2 software firewalls, plus the only way to find my gateway wirelessly is to enter the specific name and password for it on the device, makes it pretty safe.
If you don't have problems with your 2Wire firewall, then ignore everything I just said, if you do and wish to keep the gateway firewall enabled, then contact Telus and Nintendo to help you through it.
Make sure you use the manual connection instructions from the 2Wire Website (for the DS), as the automatic connection will not work.

Yeah me too.. but I need a change from the light hearted games. Smashing someone through a window does the trick!
I also grabbed Excite Truck which is fun but hard to control, I crash so much it isn't even funny.

I'm really starting to get frustrated with finding a Wii. The shortages are still just as bad as they were at initial launch time, and stores are still just as uncooperative. Not exactly a customer friendly situation and it's making me question whether Nintendo had properly prepared for it's demand.
It's getting to the point where I may just buy an XBOX360 instead because I'm tired of trying to be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
[/rant]
The Wii had better be worth it!

How could they possible prepare for this demand?? Nintendo was a distant third in the console race the last time around.
So when all of a sudden the new console is outselling the other ones by such an unbelievable amount, how can you predict that?
Blaming someone for not being able to predict the future isn't reasonable.
Nintendo could have said "In our wildest dreams, lets imagine that the Wii will sell as fast as the 360 did at launch and prepare for that". And they'd only have made 1/3 as many as they've sold so far.

Yep, I wrote the Wii off until all the hype and eventually found one. You've got to understand that these stores get like one call every minute asking for Wii's, and Really alot of the stores don't know when they'll even get shipments so it's all up to you.
Just subscribe to consolewatch.com and stop looking and maybe you'll get lucky like me!
Or just spring on one on ebay for an extra $70... it's not THAT much extra. I'd rather pay that then to hunt at stores across the city for weeks on end..

According to this site, there have been over 5 million Wii units sold. Pretty tough to predict that.

I agree. Apparently one of the reasons why Nintendo is having such a rough time meeting demand is also that they are refusing to rush production leading to an exceptionally low failure rate in both the systems and perhipherals. If you need one -that bad- find an eBay auction in Calgary ... you won't need to pay shipping as most sellers will agree to let you pick it up.

Yes, it's good when a company takes such pride in is Quality Assurance.
Also, they cannot create manufacturing capacity out of thin air. Their factories are at capacity production, given their desired QA

Just another heads up - apparently Zellers across Canada should be selling Wii's tomorrow morning. I'd give them a call first tonight to make sure however.

I was just notified by e-mail that my Copy of Godfather: Blackhand, has shipped. Looking forward to it.
Today I bought Tiger Woods 07 at the local Source by Circuit City, to tide me over and provide me with a good golf game to play with friends.
Anyone who likes golf games will love this one.
Took several holes to get used to actually swinging the remote.

Even seniors are liking the Wii.

Flora Dierbach, 72, chairs the entertainment committee at a sister facility owned by Erickson Retirement Communities in Chicago and helped arrange a Wii bowling tournament -- the latest Wii craze.
"It's a very social thing and it's good exercise ... and you don't have to throw a 16-pound (7.25-kg) bowling ball to get results," said Dierbach, who added the competition had people who hardly knew each other cheering and hugging in the span of a few hours
