Yeah, that's if we win the cup which I don't see happening lol. However, a 1st, regardless of the actual draft position simply holds more weight and leverage. It's all about optics really. A 1st when attempting to trade for any of those players that I mentioned, regardless if it's 32nd or 16th overall, simply means a lot more than say a 2nd and it being 33rd overall.

Forsberg here would be a dream. Talk about opening up backup plans in case of a gaudreau/Tkachuk departure while also bolstering the cup chance.

I'd offer dube+ pelletier+ if the cap could work.

Spend the farm and get him now. Convince all 3 to sign a one year deal. Gives Sutter 2 playoffs with them.

You always show up after an Oiler loss. Meaning You're always here.

Your attempts at trolling are very transparent.

Jarnkrok and Hagg at the deadline please, and lets see what happens.

Hagg provides veteran depth on the left side D, Stone on the right side D. 8 NHL defensemen.

Jarnkrok solidifies the top 9, and provides depth at every forward position in case of injury.

Taylor Hall in our system is a loser?

I figure Hall adds 20 points easy.

Everyone in the NHL is a superstar now. Players who are actually good are superduperstars, or hyperstars, or generational talents, or maxi-multi-hyper-super-pangenerational demigods. And then on top you have His Divine Oiliness, Connor the First.

It's basic grade inflation. The Byzantine Empire went through the same thing. First they had the title of sebastos, which basically means noble. Then sebastocrator, which is a boss noble. Eventually they were giving out titles like panhyperprotopansebastohypertatos, ‘all-super first supreme boss of all the nobles’. Shortly thereafter, the empire was wiped off the map. Let that be a lesson.

So the Flames would finish with 130 points? Decent.

Feels like most trade proposals include Dube in them. I understand it because of the season he has had when we all expected/hoped he would take a big step this year. I know you have to give up something of value in order to get something in NHL trades but I’m concerned with trading Dube.

The flames have a frustrating record when it comes to losing guys with his skillset (smaller players with offensive upside with fantastic speed) right before they break out… St. Louis, Lombardi (hit injury issues later but had a great first season after he left the flames), Byron and Bennett (though not small). Of course, every player is unique and he may never be as good as any of those players. It’s probably just my own bias as a flames fan to think this will happen with every promising young player that the flames lose.

I have liked his game since toffoli joined the team and I also liked his game when he played centre for a while in the fall. I’m hoping he finds his consistency and isn’t traded before that happens. Loved his performance in the bubble a couple years ago and he’s a physical player so I think his game translates well in the playoffs.

He’s an inconsistent scorer who will score in 5 straight games, then go quiet for the next 7 with maybe an assist. He’s 29, going on 30 in April, and he’s just another one of those players going on the wrong side of 30 that Treliving loves to sign and/or trade for (Brouwer, Neal, Lucic, Coleman). I have absolutely no idea why most people on here were obsessed with him and wanted to trade for him by any means necessary. I don’t care that he’s signed for another 2 years, but for that 1st round pick we should be targeting someone like Forsberg, Laine, Giroux, Hertl, Chychrun, Miller, etc. Those players are actual game changers that put us over the top, Toffoli isn’t that.

Treliving owed it to this core, with the way Johnny, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Markstrom, and our d-core are playing and with the way Sutter is coaching to go all in, and he failed as we no longer have enough cap space to target any of those players, unless if someone like Monahan or Lucic would waive to be traded but I don’t see that happening with the way we’re playing as I’m sure they’d rather stay on a playoff contending team. Trading for Toffoli isn’t going “all in”, it’s just a decent, overpriced piece but it doesn’t allow us to compete with Colorado, Vegas, etc. I feel like that package plus a little more would have been enough for Forsberg and I’d much rather have Forsberg than Toffoli with him being younger at 27 and a more prolific scorer. However, my target would have been Laine IF he was available. My god he would have made our top 6 absolutely deadly and he’d be an RFA after this season and a piece of our core going forwards. But instead, we have big bad Toffoli who definitely isn’t going to put us over the top if we end up playing a team like Colorado in the playoffs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if MacKinnon just slaps us around again like last time. I wouldn’t even be surprised if we’re out first round, because we just cant seem to get out of the first round. However, the Sutter effect is different and gives me some hope with his system, which is why I was hoping Treliving would go “all in” and not waste a 1st on an inconsistent scorer. I hope I'm wrong, but Toffoli just doesn't do it for me.
Toffoli was on a 44 goal pace last season FFS

Get Coleman out of those bad examples for one thing...he is a MAJOR part of this first place team. Toffoli is signed for two more seasons after this one on a great contract you are acting like it's a rental like other players you are mentioning. There are also no trade lists you are totally ignoring.

Also, there is more to hockey than scoring. Toffoli contributes far more to winning than a guy like PL. Have any of your amazing players won anything?

Waste a first lol, what a ridiculous take

Tkachuk will easily sign a 1-year deal, taking him to UFA.

Convincing Johnny and Forsberg to take 1-year deals when they have finally hit UFA would likely take some sort of illegal persuasion. Plus, those one year deals wouldn’t be any cheaper cap wise than long term deals. In fact, they would likely be more expensive.

Not to mention Tkachuk has a one year deal - QO.

Literally the last thing this team needs is another high priced LS/LW.

The one thing this club cannot lose is a cost controlled top pairing Dman who has helped his club to the best GA/GP in the league.

Woof.
