Sean Avery attempting comback
At the age of 41.
Quote:
Former NHLer Sean Avery is attempting a return to pro hockey at the age of 41, signing a deal with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears. The Tampa Bay Lightning's minor league affiliate announced the deal on Wednesday, adding that Avery will be placed on the team's reserve list.
|
Quote:
Avery says he's targeting a return to the NHL despite a 10-year layoff.
"I've got seven months to be physically ready to walk on to an NHL training camp," Avery said on the "Blackballed with James Di Fiore" podcast. "My timing is coming back and it's getting sharper every single time. I can feel it happening."

This begs the question, what new book or other item is he trying to hock with this publicity stunt?

Fella might want to quit smoking darts first.
I follow him on insta, and although he's hilarious when he's harassing people in NY for parking in bike lanes, that's about it. He was a decent NHL 3rd liner at best 10 years ago and wouldn't be anything more than that in the ECHL today.
So basically a 3rd liner on the oilers I guess.

Noticed his name recognition was slipping, so decided to pull a stunt.

How long was Fleury out before his comeback? That’s the only remotely similar situation I can think of.

He's calling this his "Sloppy Second Chance" tour.
The oilers need help in net and on defense, they'll sign him!
