Gio first punches then drops a crosscheck on Tkachuk, gets up and sucker punches Backlund in the head.
Jarnkrok saw Backs get punched and obviously had concern.
Gudbranson saw the sucker punch from the bench and starts losing his #### screaming something at Gio. Gio turns away and Gudbranson smashes his stick against the boards to get his attention back still screaming.
Mangiapane, Coleman and Tkachuk yapping at Giordano as he skates by the bench. Could read Tkachuks lips, saying, "what up man?"
Seriously fork Giordano, let's get Jarnkrok.

IIRC Jarnkrok is Lindholm's cousin.

I wonder if Gio was the primary proponent of those telling Tkachuk to tone it down last season. That was such a dumb thing to do and seemed to really stick a wedge in the team. Tkachuk definitely looks a lot happier this season.

I dont know, obviously Chucky is going to be a polarizing guy. Its his way.
But its also something this team needs. It needs people who are going to drag their teammates into the fight in order to elevate the emotion and the level of play.

"Oilers remain red hot with 5th straight win as Jets mount herculean effort to stop Draisaitl from adding to his league-leading 35th goal, stopping his monstrous goal scoring streak at 1-game; Flames barely get past expansion team."

It depends how it’s channeled. He’s been more focused on play this year. He gets into scrums, but he hasn’t had any meltdowns.

A lot of people have noticed (even opposing fans in the ATL) that Tkachuk seems to be putting more focus on the hockey this season and less with the pestiness and distractions.
Gio spoke some truth but some people have to discover it on their own.
Tkachuk is still going to do the things he does to defend his teammates, ie: protect Backlund last night against Gio and that's the right move. If he listened to Gio he would have stayed on the sidelines.

I don’t think that’s what Gio said to him at all. Gio never would say “don’t defend your teammates”. I think whoever talked to Tkachuk was saying quit starting stuff every time you feel slighted. The Muzzin thing was just stupid.

I thought it was 50% as well. Lots of empty seats in the upper 200’s and the top half of 102,103,104, Club looked about 50%. I imagine the 300 Level was a ghost town (I didn’t check). Lots of people in the Reds on the bench side.

I think the top 5ish are fairly obvious and then you get into the next tier with shorter stints and/or less impactful guys. In that grouping I would include Engelland, Boughner, Tanguay, Jokinen, Dave Gagner, Dave Lowry, Owen Nolan, Brendan Morrison. Probably missing some guys...

I thought they had up'd the capacity, the PL's probably had the most fans up there I've seen all season, it was the first game in a while that we didn't have the row to ourselves (Although I didn't got to the Leafs game..)
