9 wins means nothing. Darryl's not letting them get complacent

Things were already tweaked in the third; Lewis Dube Ruzicka each had only two shifts in the third, barely 2 minutes total.

Zadorov is a beauty. I kinda hope he sticks around.

Zadorov is an entertaining dude.
But Sutter and the "if we make the playoffs" drum. Calgary would have to go 16-18-0 to tie for the last wildcard spot.
Certainly possible, but I doubt he's thinking that will be an issue.

I really don’t think we gave up all that we did to get Toffoli in order to have him play with Monahan and Dube long term. Won’t be surprised to see more adjusting of his linemates.
Right now the Backlund line is playing perfectly. At some point though I could see Toffoli and Coleman swapping spots.

Darryl needs to start a paid service where I can listen to him talk hockey. Pointing out that the Hanifin turnover goal started with a problem behind the opposition net both takes the pressure off the player but also reveals how he sees / thinks about the game.
Super interesting, but just wish there was more.

The guy is a hockey genius. Elite of the Elite.

There were a handful of people questioning Sutter’s abilities after a few games with the club last year.

Started with Toffoli taking shifts in place of Coleman because Coleman had the fight. Lucic had to slot up with Monahan and Dube. Then when Coleman came out, Sutter just decided to put him in place of Dube and sit the rest. The 4th line had been a little under siege in the game.

Lucic plays at more of the same pace as Monahan and Toffoli. Dube gets caught alone up ice a lot.

Yes, but he had started to produce again with Monahan and Toffoli.

Lol @ Zadorov!
"Nobody comes up to me when I leave the rink and says anything..."
No ####! Nobody is approaching the 6-foot-5, 235 pound giant monster in the parking lot after dark.

I’d be happy to keep Zadorov if he’d trade his high AAV for term. Say 2.5-3x 3 or 4

I doubt Zadorov takes a discount on his current salary.
IMO, if it's anything over $2.5m long-term, you let him go. He cannot be a priority for this team this summer. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, and Kylington are all more important.
And I've really really liked Zadorov lately! He's been a beast. But you need to be careful with him.

I recall an interview where Tkachuk's mom talked about how much young Matthew gushed over Gio in his rookie ears with the team. "Mom, Gio does this and Gio does that!" sort of thing whenever he was back home.
Interesting twist if Gio doesn't reciprocate it.
