Why? He got arrested for his illegal acts, had his day to argue for bail, and got bail so it sounds like the system is working. I'm sure there are conditions to his release as well, and if he violates them, he'll be arrested again and face further charges.
Now he'll be able to plead his case against the charges.

Simple barricades and checkstops to reroute the original convoy would have kept it from getting here, but I think we all knew it was probably going to end like this.
At the end of the day, you can't occupy a city, street, block or whatever.
Really sad that this had to happen.

You know, I've been thinking about the events of the day and I think we need to dial the hyperbole back a little.
Within the context of other demonstrations over the past few years this is really small potatoes.
Nobody got 'Rittenhoused.'
The Cops didnt fly in with tear gas and night sticks and start beating the hell out of people. (BLM)
Nobody 'Stormed the Capitol.'
There was no 'Revolution.'
In context...this really wasnt that bad.

All true, but I think we hold ourselves to a very high standard as a society.
Canada has a great reputation world wide for a reason.
If these #######s tarnish it, that’s a huge negative imo.

$100,000.00 with his wife as surety.
Cannot directly or indirectly support any of the ongoing blockades except to pay for the gas of his supporter to return home.
Given the charges are: - counselling to commit mischief;
- to disobey a court order;
- obstruct police; and
- mischief
All of which, at a glance, have a maximum pentalty of 2 years less a day, being released on a Release Order with surety in the amount of $100,000.00 is A LOT
Keep in mind, if he breaches ANY condition, his wife is on the hook for $100,000.
I'm good with that.

CBC was reporting that the police expect to pay more charges against the organizers, so that might be why the bail is soo high.

I didn't see that in the Global article I read. Makes sense if they think more charges are coming.
